Outstanding! The plot was deep, and the "true" ending is everything I could have wanted. Were it truly me in the story, that is where I would have ended up. I have to say, this is remarkable. Very entertaining. I don't think I'll be able to read another one of these for a while for fear of it sucking. Someone ought to make a video game rpg out of this story. Well done!

I have to say, this was impressive. It took me about 6 hours to get the best ending, and I was enraptured with the story the entire time. It scales well, and leaves you satisfied. I legitimately feel like a God of Death now.

One of the things you do so well in your stories is make clearly distinguishable, and rich characters. It's almost as though you don't have a single flat character, all are well-rounded and seem fully developed from the moment they are introduced. This story is no exception.

died too quick

I gave this the highest rating, but only because I have gone through nearly every possible permutation of the storyline. I died many, many times, and one time through my character experienced a fate worse than death. I believe the only one I didn't find was the so-called "happy" ending, with the epilogue. It was very enjoyable to see the results of all my different choices, and the last ending I experienced felt like a happy ending, even though it wasn't the "win," It still felt like an excellent end to the story.

Great story, but unfortunately I died too soon by my own creation ;-)

I loved the ending i got. i loved the images and saw the story unfold and become purely epic. to all the young necromancers out there remember one thing. Even in death you must rely on love and family and trust no one else.

i dont know... it just didnt do it for me, i followed several different branches of this story and its paths are very linear... there seems to be only 2 set endings you can acheive that arent death, and on of them is a little anticlimax. meh. it wasnt bad though.

To start, I want to thank the author. This was a wonderful activity, and you truly are something of a great story teller.

I enjoyed this story so much that I have already sent it out to all of my DnD friends. Though none have finished yet.

I suggest this to anyone who is not turned off by some less than political language; however, I assure you that the language only stands to better the story, give you a better insight to the main character, and make the characters more real.

I also love all the times when...well, I suppose spoilers are never really that fun. Please give this story a try, or a dozen. I'm certain you will be pleased.

Interesting. Very ambitious, but the writing style occasionally grates on me; a bit rough around the edges, and could use more descriptions other than the occasional walls of dialogue. I also generally dislike being 'molded' into a specific persona for a storygame.

To be fair, I've only gotten to one ending (and died!) so I may revise my opinion and my comment after I play some more.

This has got to be the BEST Choose Your Own Path games I have ever played. After about three days of on and off playing, I finally got to the epilogue. I have to say that I look foward to a sequel, even though there propably won't be one. I absolutely love this one.

This is a good game.I can think of no improvements that won't massively change the game itself.

The story was pretty good, however the dialogue was a bit confusing. You didn't do enough separation, making it hard to tell who is saying what. Also, the dialogue felt really out of place. It was almost as if you weren't taking your own story seriously, which I felt was disappointing.

Brilliant, I've read your story about the bard first and it was definitely a delightful pleasure to go back and read about the litch who haunted his story.

I will admit at first I didn't think much of this story. It seemed bland to me at first and almost stereotypical with how it started off. I'm glad I kept playing and trying again, for by the time I reached the end I was just so bundled with excitement that I really didn't have any words. I say this because I stumbled across this page while I was researching Necromancers to further a plot of mine. This gave me plenty of ideas, and the way some of these endings wrap up is just so brilliant I think the author deserves a golden star.

wow! i'm really enjoying it for i aim to complete it. but in order to do that i have to work out what's the good way of doing things and the bad way. even if it means starting over from time to time i couldn't care for i like these types of games.

I really enjoyed this story. since I moved to nigeria and left everyone behind, I really mis roleplay etc. This can very well be some kind of substitute in a way.

The story... so damn good. Lots of paths to take, to explore and its well written out, excellent. The characters aside from the main guy are fleshed-out and lifelike. Say, what about stories containing 'Combat Command-esque' stories? Wherein you lead fleets, armies, or simply a company or a squad and the things you do affect their survival and victory/defeat. Please do.

Just finished my first playthrough and it did not end well for me. I look forwardvtp playing through it again. Great story and lots of direction to take it in. I just wish the author would change some of the main characters dialogue to reflect his growth.

This was my first story game on this site. I played this before I had an account and I played it over and over because I died and then I finally got to an endgame that was perfect for what is really do, but I said what would happen if I did the other options? I went through the game again and again finding different routes to go and found a few different endings and the true ending. I must say I have gotten addicted to this site and it all started with Necromancer.

After finding the imperfect ending, I felt far more satisfied about the true ending. I wish there were more hints explaining where the false ending was leading, but everything else about the story/game was amazing. My favorite game on the site

I really enjoyed this story, but I disagreed with the character several times and so wasn't really attached to the character, as this is obviously more 'story' than 'game'. Nevertheless, I understood why he did what he did, I just plainly disagreed with some of his actions. Great story though, and if this was a book I would gladly buy it. Not so sure about a movie though...would've been a bit gory I guess xD

good story my first CYOA one but i liked it

there are somethings i don't like but cyoa stories seem like an absolute pain to write so
they main problem i have is that it's maybe a bit to linear it didn't feel so much a cyoa (because obv this being my first one i know what a cyoa feels like -_-)
but more a choose something and if you didn't choose the right one tough luck

i would have liked it if instead of it being oh you chose to do this dead end that it continued in a diffirent way and eventually end up back on the main path perhaps

You've invoked my curiousity. I realize that there won't be a follow-up to this one, seeing it's impossible. I hope that he finally can meet Kat and Sarena. I love this story. I did not expect this story to be as long as it was as I failed a lot in the first two chapters and assumed that I was almost at the end. In the beginning I seemed to only have the choice of doing evil things, and I know that I am role playing as this character that the author has created but I genuinely didn't want to make the evil decisions. In chapter 3 I started to enjoy the book a lot more, I didn't fail at all after this point. I enjoyed the strategic thinking of conquering this world. (Super mega spoilers of death past this point) My favorite part of the book, at least on the path that I chose, was when the Ghoul King (Or GK, which I thought was funny by the way) asks you to wear that ring to help you overcome the vampire kings gaze. I was torn because I liked GK and didn't want to think that he had betrayed me, but I ultimately decided that he had due to the whole teleportation mishap. I praise this author for offering choices that you really have to think about instead of generic one's that can really go any way without any way of knowing why before hand. Overall I enjoyed this story and believe me, I LOVE Reeses cups so this is saying a lot.

I REALLY enjoyed this as my first story! I also liked that I did NOT get the true ending, and still felt fully fulfilled by it. It completely enraptured me and transported me to a fantastical place. The dark overtones were delightful, and I LOVED that my character was evil. Certainly a job well done by the author!

Wow. To follow the hero's journey to world domination, absolute power or total devastation has been very interesting, if not absolutely consuming. I am awed by the extent of work, dedication and wit that is clearly present throughout Necromancer. This outstanding piece of work will surely bring hours of entertainment to whoever reads it.

This story is beautiful. Somehow, it is a tale of love,even in the darkest moments.

This read was a breath of fresh air. I've been bored all thanks giving break. looking up stupid little mini-games to waste time on. I eventually (and oddly)found this, a magical story of a born to be guy. A necromancer. I absolutely loved it! It was so enveloping and action with so much imagery and the ending (atleast the one I got(vampire)) was so complete.
I could imagine every scene and gruesome death. I just loved it, and incourage you to write more.

It's been awhile since I've read this in full. I have to say, your ability to really craft a plot is probably second to none. There were a few irksome parts (spoilers ahead), I didn't like how preternaturally powerful my mother was. I think it's rather unlikely that some random elf girl promised to some random elf prince would turn out to be a super-being. Sometimes I felt like the plot was artificially moved forward in an all-too convenient fashion, but for the most part, basically every twist and turn felt reasonable. Your characters were amazing and the storyboard was very inspirationally crafted. Also, I loved the way you handled the psychology of the villain, I'm not sure that I've ever seen it handled so well and I feel like you did a lot of research into it. I imagine that the bizarre way that the protagonist thinks is somewhat akin to how a dictator drunk on power but unwilling to relinquish his moral self image must operate. There were numerous typos and such but fuck that shit, honestly, there was no chance that typos to the extent that they were found could possibly distract from a story this good. Thanks for writing it.

I already commented on this story, but I wanted to go into greater detail on how good it is. When I first started reading it I was afking on my favorite mmorpg. I was drawn into the story so deeply that I logged off of the game because it required too much attention and all of my attention was going towards the story. I intend to read more of EndMaster's stories.

It took me a while to get to the true ending, but I am glad I took the time. A little advice, stay FAR away from the demons, unless your killing them of course.

Forgot to rate and comment... this story is spectacular. I eventually got the best ending, but originally, I got -- spoilers -- the one where you mesh the powers of necromancy with demonic abilities. It was epic until the plot twist. Damn good twist. Sooo disappointing, but it was fun while it lasted.

As expected from EndMaster's series of great stories, Necromancer has become one of my most favorite stories not on just this site, but across others and even compared to books. The plot itself was like life rewritten again and again. Each end, however sad or joyful it is, was the start of another story. How EndMaster learned the skill of toying with my emotions and thoughts, I probably will never know. What I do know, is that EndMaster doesn't make one simply happy, it gives the reader the wide range of emotions that makes you tear up when you close the window. Thank you.

Amazing games, took me about two times to get the true ending, which is amazing by the way. First i was sucked into the infernal plane to die forever. Then i go into a portal to continue to kill everything. Great game, a squeal would be difficult but it would be nice to see something like that.

Great story, great game, the foul language was interwiven through it yet not an expletive every other word, metaphorically speaking. I really liked the ending of living away from the world with Cat. Romantic in a world of dead things. Nice touch.

This story is REALLY good. I like the huge scope, and the way it tackled some pretty hard ideas about life, death, and love. You couldn't have chosen a better time to end it. The biggest question mark, for me, was what Serena actually is, but I'll keep my opinion secret; others should come to their own conclusion, without any influences.

WOW. just...wow. iv been playing on this for 4 hours and im pretty sure iv got all the endings....it was amazing, my favorite ending was the one where you and cat live away from the world and die together....he reaches happiness and love and watches the world, i think this is where you win. Instead of killing the world and becoming God Of Death, he has to go through such misery and boredom and cant be re-united with cat...although i loved the way it does all try up in the end with your lost love.

Wow, that was pretty great. It definitely feels weird when you look back at your beginning years as just some college student and then near the end of the story when you become so powerful. Anyway, this story was very well written and very in depth as well. Overall, I give an 8/8.

This story makes me want to pleasure dead bodies. In turn which makes me read Exploitation Theater. sidenote-dead chicks never complain about anal.

This was honestly one of the best games i have ever played. It had a somewhat linear storyline(i was mind fucked near the end) and when i was called god of death i almost yelled "YES!"

This is amazing. I spent more then three hours playing this game. Love the time travel that was going on towards the end, overall this game couldn't be beat.

Is it me, or trying Big Red's path is not leading to a happy end?
I would have made it different, with three different paths and storylines, one with becoming a necromancer, then the Great Lich lord, the second with becoming a demonologist, then a Demonlord, and the third is the time magic thingy ( forgot it's name).
Btw, too many words like "fuck".Because I like the story so much and it contains this word, I started to use it in my stories.

Okay, so what's the true ending? I mean, the one with the epilogue seems the correct choice, especially due to what I assume 'Death Song's true ending was, but what about the first Great Lich Lord? Admittedly, you could sweep it under the rug with quantum theory or the Temporal anomalies or -ALIENS- and say both happened at once, or that the Necromancer just took his place in history instead (which is total fridge horror, for both the Lich Lord and the Necromancer)
Granted, looking way too hard at it, but re-re-reading it it's just something that stuck with me.
However, I digress, awesome story. 8/8, love you long time, etc.

I like your writing style - how it is more story than game. The choices are only there to break up any monotony that may be seeping in.

Anyway, although I do like this story, I feel that some of the character development is flawed.

I know swearing is part of the language and character of some people, but I feel that there are places where it is not needed and actually breaks my belief in the story's world for a little.

Spoilers alert, btw.

This is same for the character's motivations. e.g. I felt a bit unsatisfied with Catalina. I felt as if some of the hinting and flirting was unrealistic...it was kind of cheesy.

Otherwise it's a great story! I felt you improved dramatically with Ground Zero anyway.

@Vinny- There is one major alternate path in the story. Try talking to "Big Red" next time.
(Warning=spolier) You do not win on this path but it is quite intresting.

@Jack-Catalina choose to die because she did not want to live in eternal undeath.
You(Necromancer) never died unless you choose a wrong path. He enter's the Warp and travel's the Multiverse at the end.

This game had a lot of reading and very few choices. It really wasn't that interesting.

A great story! I like the unconventional theme and perspective that the author chose. The gray morality from a villain protagonist's perspective was certainly a refreshing take.

I am out of words. I can only say that this is the story and 'game' (if you can call it like that) that I have always dream of. The Necromancy theme was really well done (I love it in fantasy stories! ^_^) and the world was incredible. Its good to see more stories where the main protagonist isn't exactly the 'good guy' but the contrary. It maked me really FEEL how the things happened, not just looking at some pages. This, as a normal storie, would already been incredible, but the choices makes it even better. I really recommend you in making more stories, you got an amazing talent!

Lol, the necromancer eventualy becomes a planeswalker. Any MTG players know what I'm talking about. All kidding aside, this is my favorite game on the site and I REALLY hope that you decide to follow it up with another one.

I found the path I followed to be quite sucessful and substantial to where I thought it should go. I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, though. I feel I could have been more powerful and not given up my necromatic powers just to be painless... Like my dead girlfriend said: I could be the next Linch King. Too bad I wasn't.
I will, however have to try again. That path must be in there somewhere. I feel I didn't start to falter until the end.

Personally i think this is the best game on this site. All of the endings are original and the world that sorrounds this game.

If this was to be made as a novel, movie or game I'd defintily buy it.

Just to address one thing. The main character is meant to be a villain protagonist, so there really isn't a "good guy" option as such. There are however a few endings that allow a more positive ending for the world as well as your character if you're into that sort of thing.

There is one ending where you don't destroy the world and still live out a good life with your mistress. Then there are a couple of other endings that could be considered "good" which are more like "self-sacrifice" endings, but those could be included as well.

There are also two vampire endings which allow you to stop the destruction of the world while still maintaining your "unlife".

And that's the best you can do as far as good guy endings are concerned!

The story was surprisingly engaging and was a thrill to read. The main downside (and only a minor one) was the lack of flexibility I felt in my choices. Many of the "choices" felt like they would ultimately take me down the same path of eventual world dominance of some kind. I can't say whether that's true one way or another, but it never felt like there was any alternative to a path of darkness. However, it still worked really well storywise and I'll definitely be playing it again sometime.

AWESOME GAME. I loved the twists and turns. one question,though-Is that really an end, to become the Death God? I think you should make one with a Good-Guy ending, Like the Master of Natural death and defender of Man.

This was excellent. No spoilers here, but many of the endings managed to carry an emotional impact. A beautiful plot with interesting conflicts await here.

This is an oppinion, I didn't like it. at times I felt like the plot was written out by a young child, while at others I became annoyed by an overzaturation of profane language. There isn't anything wrong with using swearing in a book, but when its constant it just weakens the writing. it realy wasnt much of a "Game" it was more like, "read it my way or die" but your writing as a whole is good.

That was an amazing story. I loved all the endings that I found, and how many of them would have a huge impact on you. You are an amazing writer :)

I'm coming to go over it again, and it was pieced overall nicely and done collabrately. "Even Death may die" was interesting and serene, there was where it would mean a little maddness and how the guy seeks death and nearly takes on what it is to experience death. The best thing I liked, though was where he basically retired, but for him to try to find where was going to do in his path, he choose it as his own and gone to a different state.

Now see this? Art has displayed the intelligent way to provide criticism. He wasn't crazy over the story and that's fine.

"Guy" on the other hand just failed at reading comprehension in general. His main complaint that the Necromancer wasn't surprised to see his dead girlfriend was blatantly false to begin with considering the protagonist says "HOLY SHIT!" when he first sees her. Not to mention the numerous other reasons why he was comfortable with being around her.

I thought it was ok, the history was interesting and ok. It captures some of the essence of a character between Potter and Holden. Overall, it's all right but nothing to totally praise about or reflect about

This story is legendary. It has to be the best story I've read yet. So many endings and possibilties, and in the end, I continued on to become the God of Death! Don't know if I'll find anything to top this.

This story had such diffrent thing you could do that I was hoping that this book would never end. I personally thing that you should make this story slightly longer in some parts so you can turn it into a Book (which i would buy).
Now, If you do not make a sequal to this book then I will be very disapointed in you. Reading and Learning about Necromancers has always been a hobby for me.
I think you had one of the best endings since you could choose to become a God Of Death or let the World breathe again.
No matter what game or strange book i read or play i always pick the necromancer since i am so facinated by them.

Gotten requests for a sequel to this story several times in the past. However, it's virtually impossible to make one given the ultimate outcome. This is a story that would probably be ruined by a sequel (or prequel). I'd rather leave it be for the most part.

However, I did make an "equal" which takes place during the same events as this story, but it has a very different protagonist.

I'm a bit dissapointed with this one, after reading Ground Zero. I guess Ground Zero was just ground breaking or something. I would have released them in opposite order, this is maybe 1/2 the game Ground Zero is in my opinion.
