Player Comments on Necromancer

This storygame is one of the highest rated here, and for good reason. There are varying degrees of seriousness in the content at, and this one perfectly straddles the middle ground. It has enough matter-of-fact, wry humor to keep you chuckling, like the whole "most witches are rug munchers" bit at the beginning; but it also has a few moments of emotional catharsis, like (SPOILERS) the path where you can choose to not help your father when you are shot back into time before your birth. By choosing to not interfere, you undo your entire existence, preventing countless deaths, while bridging the emotional gap with your mother for one last little message from her, telling of how your actions have spared lives despite your nature as an emissary of death.(/SPOILERS)

Another praiseworthy trait of this storygame is that it has sufficient branching that leads to unique endings and exploration of very different aspects of the world. Obviously the two main branches are the demon realm and human/elves/etc, but it also further splits them up, particularly on the human side of the story, where you have several interesting endings to choose from. I don't want to get into too many spoilers, but you do have a few options to "do the right thing" when you become powerful enough to do the wrong thing. What makes these branches work, however, is that the endings that accompany those choices feel earned. They make sense in light of the world and the events preceding them, and they are rewarding in and of themselves.

Of course, the best part about this storygame is the casual disregard for life and morals that the protagonist has, and the fact that it feels more like destiny than malicious choice. You're not trying to snuff out life because you hate it exactly, but because this is who you are. If you make the right choices, you will find by the end that the choices your character made weren't really choices at all. You are the Necromancer.

Necromancer is never too heavy, but it isn't too light, either. It brings a little piece of all the emotions and type of thoughts you'd want to experience in a storygame, and mixes them together like a deliciously churned vat of ice cream. Add some good, comical dialogue and some pictures that draw you into the world a little bit, and you have the makings of what should be an 8/8 storygame.

This was a little different from some of EndMaster's other fantasy masterpieces in that there was clearly one true ending. However, it makes sense due to their only being one truly successful outcome for a necromancer such as the main character, and each path is still very entertaining.
I liked both of the two main branches, but I preferred the Dark Order path because having my guy become an unstoppable lich dude was just that awesome. That is my own preference more than anything though. Both are quality writing.
One thing I enjoyed in both paths was how the main character reacted to things, especially in the beginning. His, "Did you see how cool that was! This is awesome!" behavior was indicative of him just being some college kid who happened to be insanely powerful, and it somewhat mirrored my own reaction as a reader.

This is the first story I read in this site when I happily stumbled upon it a couple years ago, and it was the one that got me hooked to it. And after all this time, I still find it to be the best and most touching multiple choice story I have ever read.

I took the first way back then, and didn't play the other one up until now as I was so involved in the story I didn't want it to be any different. Needless to say, the second way is as good and interesting, and it also explores more in depth some of the characters of the first one.

Now with the real review:

I think that the most important thing in a narrative text are the characters. I find that good characters can justify a mediocre plot but that a good plot can't justify mediocre characters. The characters in Necromancer are all well crafted and have a personality, and as such they all feel like real individuals.

I can relate to the emotions felt by the main character, which helps in getting into the story and believing it, which is a big plus in this kinds of stories. In fact, I think that part of the special significance of this story to me is that I identify with it’s main character at some level. I’ve been there, and I’ve had those thoughts.

The plot of this story is pretty simple and straightforward, it being the necromantic career of the main character, but it succeeds in what it tries to do and it's interesting and overall well thought out. As with most of Endmaster's stories, it is a "vital" plot, as it is about the life of the main character rather than just a single story in it, and as such it deals with a lot of the topics a life has (war, love, family, sex, death, etc).

The feel of politics, warfare and intrigue and the choices to make in such fields are also very interesting. The choices are complete (as they included what I would do in those situations) and they can change the outcome of the story substantially. Such things are also very logical, as what would usually work in real life is what works in the story. It is, therefore, realistic.

Another important thing is the ending, as it can screw a good story without too much problems. Both of the major endings are satisfying and well thought out, and some of the dead ends are pretty satisfying and fun too.

It is important for a fictional world to have definite rules that are followed all the time; otherwise, it is inconsequential and its choices become just random luck. This isn't obviously the case with Necromancer, as the rules are clear and followed throughout the story.

Writing and vocabulary:
The vocabulary in Necromancer is rich and employs accurate wording, without ever feeling distant, cold or pompous. In fact, one of the best things about Endmaster’s writing is that it combines this sort of vocabulary with a closeness with the reader and some sarcastic smirks that makes his writing truly enjoyable despite it being opposed to mine (which feels long, tedious and is like basically reading your calculator’s instruction manual in Chinese).

Technical details:
An especially gruesome typo can be a distraction from the story, and a bad layout can make it unreadable. This of course doesn’t happen with Necromancer, as the layout is fine as it is. There are some typos and repeated words, but those are minor, scarce, and don’t detract from the story at all.

As I said in the beginning, I find this to be the best multiple choice story I have ever reed, although that is partially due to personal reasons. Analyzing it coldly, it may not be the best one, but it is certainly among them. I therefore give it an 8/8 (a 10 in my book), and I encourage everyone who hasn’t read it before to do so, it will be worth the time.

Also, thanks to Endmaster for writing such a masterpiece and giving it away for free. Your love for the art is truly commendable.

It all ends so well. In terms of quality at least
-- oIGabeIo on 8/14/2019 8:29:29 AM
What an excellent, interesting story! With each paragraph I was drawn further into the story. The images truly contributed well to the tale and every choice was highly important and weighty. No matter what end I got (and I played through this at least ten times), I was satisfied with the magnificent writing and progression of the story. The addition of background information on the world was a well-appreciated addition, and the way the author slowly revealed the reader's family connections and relationships was intriguing and well-crafted. All in all, quite a wonderful story.
-- muffin on 8/11/2019 1:36:44 PM
Very interesting game, nice twists in the end depending on your actions and branching. I understand that the plot is it’s own and not the typical heroism against death and Necromancers but I found it nihilistic and boring at the end like if I also had no care for any character in the end just like the Main character which reduced my interest in the story because it just becomes about destiny rather than character driven relationships.
-- MJA on 8/11/2019 12:46:21 PM
This game is a god damn MASTERPIECE from the literature to the gameplay to just the world in and of itself definitely worth the time to play.

Pretty difficult, but that's ok seeing as i like a bit of a challenge myself. My original ending was getting murdered by the demon dude in the beginning, because i over-thought it, and thought i might impress the Professor dude. It's well written, not repetitive ,and has some pretty damn beautiful death scenes such as the one where my "Body was charred black before i even hit the ground" really poetic. First couple pages and i'm like holy shit this motherfucker is demented, but then slowly but surely i realized its beauty in art. It is truly the feeling that you get when you see a dark contrast painting. You begin to feel for the characters, to feel as the characters. Like when the girl kisses you and brushes it of you get those flutters, like it's real, its so immersive and realistic, how you deeply feel for a lost love and still watch for others, even though deep down you don't want those others, because you need that person you have lost, plus the longful feeling when you've lost someone and all you want is to have them back through all means necessary, willing to sacrifice everything for one thing. Even though any coping skills, or any suggestions given to you by those peasants that mean well, but can't understand, pushing you to the edge forcing you to communicate with people who you don't know, and you can just write your problems away, use the writing to encase the nightmares, the thoughts, the desires, and the sins. Because then, in truth it is just a story. Then when you are at peace with it, and it lets you know, that ultimately its not about you. its never about you, and it never will be about you.

You get an 8 out of 8, for outstanding writing, which in all that is good and holy, pushes you out of your comfort zone, puts where you are you, and you don't want to be there, but you cant escape. then the story ends.

Among the best games of the century and possibly other centuries as well, Necromancer should be mandatory reading for posting on the forums. When you are don reading it, go read Death Song. Dreggnion can suck a dick, because this is great stuff.

This is an amazing game. I personally really enjoyed the Hell alignment path (even though there was no epilogue) as it really showed the more twisted sides of the main character. I strongly recommend this story. 8/8

The end was not what I expected. I thought I was reaching the Epilogue, but alas. However, I think this is one of the many things End's works are famous for. They make you think you're on the right path, but then, boom you're really not. Never underestimate the power of EndMaster.

I'll be reading it again in the quest of an Epilogue, of course, but thought to share the thoughts so far any way. As previously stated elsewhere before, I'm shook. This was different and nothing like anything I've ever read before. I've had faced multiple failures in the game, but this one was the most... mind-boggling. Because, hey, I really thought I was doing good. I cry. But holy shiznuggets, wow. Every character was so well planned, and I had a hard time trying to understand them or predict what could they possibly do next; or rather what would End do next. I mean, never in a million years would I have thought BIG RED WAS COMING BACK! Like, that was my most favourite choice of going to him instead of the other evil Professor (who later killed me anyway after approaching him when Big Red 'died'), but noooo! I'm thinking maybe going to him should be the ideal choice after all. Hmm.. next game play would tell this. I think my most favourite person whose death I cherished was Velzix. He deserved that. Smart of the sister to do that. I loved the fact he was so delusional about the whole rebellion thing planned. Idiotic and funny, but awesome of him to post Hellbreeds in the demonic army. That was wonderful, I loved it. However, I was definitely not expecting her tormented soul to finally be released either. End is merciful and kind like that. Speaking of the sister, the transformation process was painful. Mainly because of the dad witnessing it all. I don't know, the whole dad part had me conflicted. I understand why was it done what was done and that his behaviour towards me was totally wrong and unacceptable, but I think I felt the real pinch when he cried during sister's transformation. Again, the story does an incredibly good job and covering a wide array of emotions and plots. I felt anger, intrigue (esp the eager "what next, what next," confusion, sadness, and the feeling of victory (which was ultimately shattered, but anyway. You get my point.))I was especially amazed by the plot development.

(A tip for new readers: what you think is true is probably not true in 99% of the cases. You're in for a wonderful, hooking adventure.)

Always loved the theme of necromancy, the romantisim of vampires, and much of the Dark Arts in Fantasy genres. Any this was no different.

I will say this, the characters beginnings we unique. But the possible ends were rather stereotypically evil. Or at peast the evil endings were, I’m disappointed though there wasn’t a route, not of deplomacy but of one that brings order not simply death.

This is a great story from the villains perspective. Walk through the shoes of a talent-less nobody that finally finds out what he's good at at the cost of lives. Intrigue, conquest, high adventure, romance, this story has it all.
The upside being that you get to be the bad guy that get's killed and comes back like herpes.

Second EndMaster story I've read/played through. I started with Eternal a long time ago (I think it was years, even) and although this one didn't seem quite as extensive (having only one "true" ending, after all), it certainly didn't disappoint. I sure hope EndMaster writes professionally IRL, because of not, what the hell are you doing with your life, man?

This was amazing. i played over and over and got many endings, including the "true" ending. Love this so much please make more
-- zach on 1/16/2019 9:49:50 AM
Now THIS is why I come to this site. Sure, it's not the most professional of works (I've noticed my fair share of grammatical errors, and the writing is a bit forced at times), but when you take into account that this isn't written by a professional (and probably by a single person in their downtime over a period of a few months, *maybe* years), yet nonetheless has so many different paths with multiple paragraphs on each page, it's truly something to behold.
As stated before, the writing isn't perfect, but when it clicks, it's extremely well-done. You (or at least I) can really get into the headspace of the characters.

Ultimately, though, the reason I love it so much is because I'm an absolute edgelord, and upon getting the true ending, I really wished I was in the main character's shoes.

The true ending is great, and even some of the false endings are fantastic if you're into what they offer.

The demonic ending is pretty ridiculous and honestly pretty funny.
Damn you, Big Red!

I consider the God of Death to be the true ending, just so anyone reading this that's played through it doesn't get confused. It's possible someone considers a different ending to be "true."

Yeah, I know this is a repost but I wanted my review to be linked to my account and forgot to log in the first time.

When a friend recommended this to me I didn't really know what I was getting into, but it was a really good story. I enjoyed as a lot of the "endings" and the epilogue did a good job of tying all of the loose threads.

-- William5738 on 8/6/2018 1:52:11 PM
My only real criticism is that your characters don’t seem to be doing anything.
As an example, because I know that’s a little vague:
“How could you possibly know that?”
He arched an eyebrow, “how could you possibly know that?” His lips curled upwards as he spoke.
See what I mean, you get so much more context from the second one. And I know that you started to do it a little near the end. But, it made it hard to get into because from my perspective everyone seemed to be standing around like dolls and saying things with a monotone. Without a hint of emotion.
I just think you can do better and I hope you take this advice to heart.

-- Mrphoton on 7/5/2018 12:56:09 AM
This is an AMAZING story. Rather than condemn necromancers as scenery-munching evil, you're a nuanced, bullied kid who wants revenge, betrayed by your fellow students and even the Order's pet Demon! Then you become a Planeswalking God.
That is the BEST revenge!
-- EPGAH on 7/2/2018 1:15:40 PM
It was a good read but the following are somwtgings i think would have made it better:

1. Only one ending has an epilogue and is supposedly treated as the true ending. Though i agree dead ends and bad ends should be in stpries such as these, i think there were several that can be considered good ends that deserve their own proper eiplogues like the ending where you let yourself be killed by your sibling or you left with catalina.

2. The last one would be to give a choice with at least naming your character and determining the gender. As ive read all the routes, it seems that the story really isnt gender locked. You can be a female necromancer and nothing in the story changes. And this may be pointed out as something to support not implementing thisb i would also point out that in some sense the cutomization will help the reader identify and be more invested in the character and story. After all, reading you, you, you over and over and over again could be really grating and tiring.

-- losteyes on 6/16/2018 11:46:41 PM
Me again, I have to admit that the real epilogue was even more fantastic that the time-warp ending. Becaming the God of Death, wow. It was a good choose your own adventure, it was very good indeed. Kudos to the author for witing it.
-- Alexei on 5/18/2018 6:51:14 AM
I loved the time-warped end, with which we discover we were the Great Lich Lord all along.
-- Alexei on 5/18/2018 6:44:18 AM
I found this story truly enlightening, yet at the same time saddening. your family die one by one, the links to a mortal life ending, severed by your own hand or the hand of theirs. Death brings life, yet life brings death. Perhaps in the future we can see one so full of life his powers are unmatched. But that could be a story for another day. Beautifully written, 10/10 to the author.
-- Shadownamesto on 5/15/2018 7:07:49 AM
A great storyline. Action packed, and has plenty of fun choices.
Yet, Necromancer feels like a full dimension of explanation is missing. The story resides within a world of magic, demons, and magical creatures of varying types. All of these things are left with little explanation of what they are and how this world works. How the spells are cast, or how the magical material is learned
If Necromancer were to provide some deeper meaning to whats going on magically, it would augment some aspects of necromancy and the time magic.
Otherwise this is an incredible story.
-- Grantis on 5/3/2018 11:45:44 PM
It was a dead end for me ;) Nicely written tho. I was thoroughly entertained.
-- Damon on 5/1/2018 2:12:31 PM
There are 2 things no one should have dominion over: death and time. Knowing this, I somehow managed to get to this ending on the first try. And now we learn that the Necromancer is a planeswalker. I wonder how he will interact with Lilliana Vess?
-- darkslayerstyle7 on 4/25/2018 7:12:16 PM
Well done. Unfortunately I died in the story.
-- yezster on 4/23/2018 3:00:56 PM
Only shit, Owch my eyes! >_< I been reading so long.

Anyway's my thought's on this is funny if you have dark f up mind, and when you see Big Red. He well makes you Angry, Laughs with joy, Shameful, and sadness.

Even tho, he has little to do with the story and just there for moving you through the plot of the story, I was wanting to hate him. But, I just can't, He was too damn enjoyable to be with and when I picked too killed him. He just a demon and they are all backstabbers.

But I was wrong, and he was actually a very good domain dude with a jackass shell around him. And I was like "Fuck... The only character who I was planning to kill, Is actually a great guy and asshole (In a funny way) Is dead, and now I very much stuck with characters who I hate the most..."
-- LoreOfHistory on 4/7/2018 7:07:17 PM
I was constantly on the edge of my seat as I ended up putting myself into the shoes of the Necromancer. I reached an ending I wasn't looking for but that makes it even more enjoyable as I now want to go back to the start and try for a better ending! 10/10!

This one of the best I have ever seen, there are so many different ways to go about it and I can honestly say that I have been entranced by this tale. I will not spoil anything but this story will leave you shocked and begging for more. I would most certainly recommend you giving this a try.
-- Luke on 3/4/2018 2:42:23 PM
This was one of the best CYOA stories I ever read, heck, one of the BEST stories I ever read. 10/10, would play again!
-- Mythboy97 on 2/24/2018 11:01:40 PM
This was by far the best story I have ever traveled through. I managed to make it to the point where I met a more than satisfactory ending. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone interested in war, but also battle strategy and betrayal. 100% satisfied and would recommend to anyone who can handle a bit of cursing and sexual topics.

I personally enjoyed playing. I died early on, but Im going to go through, and try again. Maybe I can make some better choices the next time around.

I suggest you try this game out. Its well written, the storyline is amazing, and the attention to detail is through the roof. It was time well spent.
-- Maiq_The_Liar on 2/15/2018 9:30:25 AM
This was a great story that gives an interesting take on the point of view of a sort of antagonist who embraced his natural role in the world.
-- Dizastorm on 2/12/2018 10:02:59 AM
Unexpectedly charming game given the subject matter. The writing was perfectly good enough, but the story is what really made this shine. Definitely worth playing this through to the Epilogue!

-- Darrian on 1/22/2018 12:58:42 PM
This is the best CYOA I've played yet. Even though I've only played 4 of them, it still is the most entertaining and intriguing to play. I don't even like reading because it usually is just not interesting or feels like a chore but this CYOA is good enough for me to not feel bad about when reading

Ah, this is another one good read from this author. But epilogue kinda make it seems like this is just complex prologue of some Marty Sue adventures around of multiverse.
-- Laxard on 12/12/2017 8:01:39 AM
It's been ten years and even then, this was an experience worth the moments. To whoever made this, you did good. You did good.
-- Goatie on 12/8/2017 10:57:24 PM
Amazing. Magnificent. The level of talent you have is awe-inspiring. I am flabbergasted by how you were able to make me feel like I was actually living the story. Fantastic writing, I cannot stop praising you (until I am done writing this message). Good job.
-- RandomRedHead on 12/7/2017 12:11:06 PM
I originally read this back in 2013 and gave it an 8. I've just gone through it again (getting the epilogue ending and a few others) and still stand by my assessment. It's a beautifully crafted story with a good mix of humor, romance, horror, and suspense. With a wider view of your writing this time, I am both in awe of your skill and puzzled by a certain contrast that makes you an enigma to me.

Even though I didn't finish (and died), I see now why this has such a high rating. Amazing writing! Though some minor spelling and capitalization details were missed, the story plot was great. Can't wait to try to finish!
-- Cookiekat1029 on 11/24/2017 12:58:38 PM
My god is this story good, I mean it’s not the most beautifully written but it’s story makes up for it, it’s much less game and more story but hey, I’m not complaining
-- Dr_Brave on 11/23/2017 4:24:55 PM
fantastic game and story i hope to see a sequel!
-- AlexanderFalkor on 11/18/2017 1:20:32 AM
Good story line, most branches made a lot of sense as to what was the 'right' choice to continue the story, but a couple seemed a little to arbitrary, but that would be the only significant knock against it.
-- iverhaegen on 11/13/2017 1:22:53 PM
I loved this story every step of the way (even though I got sent to hell at the end). This was the first book on this site I have ever read, and let me tell you it was a awesome introduction and if your wondering if I will try to get a better ending the answer is no way (being a evil monster is just too much fun)!
-- Darkaris Dark on 11/10/2017 10:08:57 PM
Read the whole thing in one sitting. I feel unhealthy for sitting for so long, but it was worth it. I'll admit, the writing was cheesy a lot of the time. But past that, it was pretty damn good.

-- Varlanos on 10/13/2017 3:11:00 AM
An EXQUISITELY good read. In fact, I think I will make a sort of 'sequel' fan-fiction story to it. Do not worry, I will give you the respect, recognition, and what-not, that you deserve. Until next time.

-- batman69 on 10/2/2017 4:53:17 PM
Well, to be honest, it took me a while to find that "true ending" that was mentioned, but the ones where you sacrifice yourself are quite nice as well. The fact that the minor death god just felt fear when he heard his two lovers had met in the afterlife was GLORIOUS. Good read, and good luck!
-- King Blue on 9/24/2017 7:44:22 AM
Shorter than I had hoped, but longer than I expected. It was a good ride, and that ending made it a worthwhile ride. It was good. All the "endings" were pretty good actually once you got past the initial hurdle. It's a little hard to read all the little text under the photos, but they are worth it. Thank you for producing this for free.

-- looeconnon on 8/9/2017 2:45:47 PM
I enjoyed the content and the choices that were present. Some choices led immediately to a death or game ending which was a bit shallow, however the result was understandable.

I do wish that there were choices that led to an entirely different direction in the story, but I digress I have yet to try and create one of these so I have no idea how much effort that would take. This was the first story I read on here as well
-- sarokhor on 8/9/2017 11:05:29 AM
It is him.
-- EndMaster on 8/9/2017 8:52:29 AM
I wonder if (SPOILER ALERT) the death god that shows up in a few of the final choices of Eternal is really the protagonist of THIS story. It'd be interesting, and it would be as weird as it was if you chose to let your father die and (I think) realize that you were the first great lich lord. Funny how time travel complicates things, doesn't it?
-- ShadowFlame9 on 8/9/2017 2:56:08 AM
Love it, really tickles my nihilistic bone , 10/10 would bring death to the world again.

I chose the ending I would deem the "Alexander the Great Finale" wherein I simply die and let my empire fall apart due to infighting. Without conflict the world is boring.

-- jnvcruz on 7/2/2017 3:58:24 AM
The first time I wandered down the path of evil (as if any aren't) and as I reached the end I thought "This has to end poorly". Well.
Next as I wandered down the better path I enjoyed some of the dead ends. I liked dying to preserve all life or reclusing myself to live in joy. But when I got to the true end the jaunt through death hadn't become the anti-climax I feared. I hadn't imagined it would be so fulfilling.
TLDR: I liked reading this, and wish there was more like it.
-- Commenting on 7/1/2017 12:34:00 PM

As always, I begin by saying I am not an author and have no idea of the work and creativity that goes into creating these stories. I respect and admire all who put forth the effort. I found this story to be equal parts entertaining and disturbing. Amazingly well-written, I was always curious what was coming next. However the characters seemed a Maybe that was intentional, but it did hurt the immersion for me.

-- Gab122006 on 6/10/2017 5:37:36 AM
Was very neat to read, however the choices needed more explanation before i picked them, Also the Diologe between people was very wooden or downright off compared to the situation.
-- Jake the Snake on 6/8/2017 2:51:23 PM
Clearly a huge amount of time has been invested into this, which is how it should be. This story is a brilliant example of how to write a CYOA story. Even with no more than two choices for any given fork (as far as I've seen and I've played it a few times now!), there is wide variation, realistic consequences for the choices you make, and believable characters. The beginning is written in a skillful depiction of how a lot of teenagers feel in the World, and soon matures and progresses with time as you make choices. The characters almost without exception have life of their own.
There are very few spelling mistakes or missed words, though I did find some of the pacing of the dialogue and description a bit fast. Then again, it might just be because I personally abuse commas.
All in all, an inspirational story that's surely influenced many on this site, and for good reason.
-- AzBaz on 6/2/2017 8:01:55 AM
Endmaster I bow to your skill in weaving a story that both enraptures and captivates those who start it. I found both the Necromancer and Eternal were enriching, Heart-felt, enlightening, and the emotion and personality you gave the characters in both made hurt when I saw them pass on.
-- Dethlord99 on 5/28/2017 9:37:16 PM
Would become a god of death again.
Seriously I hope the story I'm working on is as good as this
I need to get more pictures like you did with this story but they are difficult to make Hmm anyways ya I've read it before but it was good to read it again I think the reason I didn't rate your stories before is because either I was too lazy to write a paragraph or I didn't have an account, either way, it has been done gonna go re-read eternal now.

Wow. This is the best CYOA style story I've read. I think the best part of this story is how the decisions you make affect the mental state of the protagonist.Your choices don't just change the course of the plot, they change the character.
-- Battlemage on 4/10/2017 1:46:26 AM

I didn't get very far before meeting an unfortunate end (let's just say I got a little too ambitious too fast). However, from the amount of reading I managed, it was well-written and engaging in true Endmaster style (I've enjoyed his other stories as well). I highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys dark fantasy and aspires to be a Lich Lord. Who wouldn't?
-- Andrew on 3/29/2017 7:34:17 PM
Simply amazing. I would love to see this as a video game. I don't think there is one when the player is literally the ultimate evil. But man, I loved this. This is the second time I've gone through this entire story. Wonderful.
-- Jim Lewis on 3/27/2017 3:18:16 PM
I've accomplished six endings, and have found the one that appeals to my personality in the seventh. Not unlike the youngest brother of the Deathly Hallows, I have embraced death as an old friend after living a long life in peace and solitude with my queen. Thank you for this brief respite from the mundanities of my daily life.

-- HannaJoeLynn on 2/22/2017 2:05:58 PM
It. Was. Awesome. Enough said.
-- JadeJolt on 2/22/2017 2:01:32 PM
This is... amazing. That's all there is too it. I got the ending where you stay with Catiline in the Vampire fort and I thought that was the true ending, but hell no! Walking amidst planes of existence? going to other worlds? This story is fucking amazing.
-- Matthias on 2/18/2017 1:56:41 PM
Eyyy...i thought when i talked to the demon, i would be able
to negotiate with him, then kill him and raise his skeleton and controll him ;-;

it filled more heart more then I expected, and saddened my extensitence more then then it should
-- artilus on 2/9/2017 9:28:44 PM
I loved it, specialy the ending with the epiloge it has a surreal feel to it because everything else you read its always good wins! life prospers! everything is puppies and rainbows! Not here! Is nice to see the other side of the coin. I picked this one randomly in the fantasy section and I am glad I did.
-- advita on 2/9/2017 11:57:30 AM
I love it!!! Although...I need to repeat it again because I died.
-- CatalinaDiAngelo on 1/29/2017 6:30:18 AM
EndMaster's stories never harbour a dull moment........ever.
-- GundamMeister on 1/28/2017 5:46:32 AM
This was an awesome read, nothing like becoming a god.
-- Joeyjoejoe on 1/28/2017 2:11:31 AM
Good detail, needs more choices, however.
-- Tawnystar on 1/28/2017 12:44:36 AM
Cool, though I wish I could have made more decisions.
-- zavcex on 1/11/2017 4:12:05 PM
This is the best story I've read so far, I loved it, awesome read.
-- CowBoySkinnyLinny on 12/31/2016 11:13:01 PM
Even after playing this a handful of times I still enjoy the ride each and every time.
-- nelzinga16 on 12/28/2016 3:50:21 PM
Hey Endmaster, I don't think that the website isnt registering my scores. I ranked Eternal a 7, Mizal a 6, and this an 8/8. I don't know where else to report this, but all my comments are showing up as 0/0. I thought it might be as feature but I'd rather report it through available channels and be wrong then I would let it be.
-- Patar on 12/24/2016 3:28:41 PM
Amazing game loved playing as a bad guy for once.
-- Branston on 12/24/2016 12:06:27 AM
I enjoyed it you personally added something I wouldn't have been able to imagine without the help of some people. Continue! Like seriously please continue?!
-- Kitty! on 12/21/2016 10:56:12 PM
I really liked it!
-- Campmixup on 12/16/2016 1:23:54 AM
It's a solid story. I thought the options were interesting, but I feel there was more left to be desired. Overall, a good read though.
-- Dorksmith1992 on 12/9/2016 11:21:26 PM
Nice prequel to Death Song.
-- Voltage on 12/8/2016 8:37:25 PM
Epic, that's one word to describe this story.

I'm amazed by the death, sorry, depth and freedom of choice the story offered. You wanna be a Necromancer and raise undead? Sure! You wanna try dealing with demons and merge with spirits? Suit yourself! You want to become God? Go ahead and try!

What I am most surprised about was the typo, or rather its lack thereof. Typos might actually ruin a good read when too many exist, and thankfully, this story has very little.

I have nothing but praises for this story and that won't change for a very long time.
-- PRONTO3000 on 12/7/2016 6:58:45 AM
This is a good piece but it does not end in happy ness but you have to help quay
-- Zeb the man on 12/6/2016 6:23:49 PM
This story is absolutely fantastic. If you finish it all the way through to the epilogue it has a great ending and is very satisfying. The only problem i have with it is that there isnt more. It was long enough but a sequel would be awesome. perhaps (spoilers) after you become the god of death and reign the multi-verse, or a prequel playing as the original lich lord. Please make more. -- Jay
-- Jay Schmidt on 11/30/2016 2:49:20 PM
This thing went well but It always endes bad but it is a good read
-- A good reader on 11/27/2016 5:40:10 PM
It was good but I died
-- Me on 11/27/2016 4:48:50 PM
Amazing. I took the bad path, I think, but hey, even the worst ending possible is still pretty satisfying. You should try writing a book sometime, you know that? I mean, I would absolutely read a book consisting of the path I played through.

Note to Players: The first Choice you Make is Going To Influence the ENTIRE story.
-- Anonymous on 11/26/2016 5:52:59 PM
-- rusaku on 11/16/2016 1:11:42 PM
A really good story game! I'm actually thinking of using this in a crossover, which should be pretty interesting. If I pull it off after my first fanfics debut and completion.
-- TerrorCooper24689753 on 11/11/2016 1:35:10 PM
I "played" this once when I was younger, not even sure how long ago that was, but I remember so clearly the effect this had on me. I grew not only as a writer, but also as a person. I show my gratitude to the author of this beloved (at least to me) story by "playing" again. Thank you.
-- AetheriusLM on 11/7/2016 10:10:31 PM
Great story.
-- Adrian on 11/5/2016 10:32:39 AM
One word, EPIC. If any one of these story branches had been longer it could have easily been a best-selling book.
-- adfadf on 10/27/2016 6:37:48 AM
I have gone through this story but haven't been able to find a storyline that went farther than chapter 2. I just did, and it was marvelous. The writing was immaculate and the plot was well planned out. Good job
-- Zulutrader on 10/21/2016 12:15:48 PM
Love all the endings 10/10 overall
-- Unknown on 10/20/2016 11:54:18 PM
Well on my first try i got sent to hell as my ending. I will defiantly be playing more to see the different endings! Great story, that was a joy to read and experience. 8/8
-- ExpectReality on 10/20/2016 12:54:17 PM
Wow! Played through this one twice and it was totally worth it. While its a little less polished than some of Endmasters later work, Necromancer is remarkably tightly written. I played through to both the final endings but felt that many of the other possible endings were much more poignant. Dark, poignant and funny Necromancer is certainly worth the time it takes to play.
-- Tsar931 on 10/16/2016 3:30:57 PM
more plz. lets see what happen when he's a god dose learn to control his powers then wait on a world watching mortals until another god comes and they fight or what PLZ MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-- Lonely_Samurai on 10/8/2016 11:44:22 PM
Amazing. I love the way that your edgy writing mixes with the classic D&D-type world.
-- Hayden Hedges on 10/7/2016 11:47:48 PM
It is an amazing game with a story that you could get lost in.
-- William on 9/25/2016 9:13:56 PM
Wonderful read!!!! It has been relevent to my own journey from life to death. Thanks alot.
-- blueberryfairy on 9/25/2016 12:40:49 AM
well, what i can say? it's well written..
there's one thing that i don't liked.. maybe i am wrong, than i ask sorry about that..
there's just one path that you can follow (again, i can be wrong)
i mean, you got two options, one of these options you will die, the another, well, you will live..
but i liked, i have become Death himself..
-- CeLioCiBR on 9/19/2016 1:58:19 AM
This was just fucking awesome. Incorporating the "multi-verse" ideea was the definitory element in making me give this story an 8/8. Great job!
-- Vladerick on 9/11/2016 10:29:57 AM
Quite the interesting tale. Ahhh, what a would be like to become a god. Hmmmmm, maybe I'll try it out.
-- Léo Lelouch on 9/6/2016 1:30:19 AM
1/10 ~pornomancer was better
-- Sharkworld78 on 8/30/2016 12:45:57 AM
Waaaahhh, amazing story, my favorite so far, ended as the god of death, ready to take over the other realms(and combat other gods?) is a sequel in the works or is there a chance of a sequel(s)? That would be the greatest thing ever!
-- Wulfaer on 8/23/2016 3:30:13 PM
The first time I played through it, I pretty much completed Chapter Two and then just got an epilogue. I say 'played through' because I didn't think there would be any way to progress the story further, but then I tried again and finished all the way to Chapter Five. The writing style is excellent - descriptive without being needlessly flowery, with a twinge of sarcasm - and the characters are all so wonderful, becoming deeper the more I interact with them.

Also, for some reason, I imagined the Main Character (I forgot his name, sorry) as the character from Owlturd Comics. I think it's because he was willing to side with Cthulhu for a free mug.
-- MD5584 on 8/21/2016 10:38:28 PM
Thoroughly enjoyed, was hoping to continue reading about this, but I ran out of Epilogue.
-- Darksteel on 8/18/2016 8:36:05 PM
Pretty cool. I enjoyed it. I played until I got to an ending I was happy with. Took me like 2 hours.
-- Judicator on 8/18/2016 6:14:28 PM
Aww yiss! I love necromancers and lich kings and all that, so this story was an absolute treat.

Sometimes the dialogue feels a little rushed, and I've seen one or two typo's, but the story is much too fun and imaginative to really complain about that. A must-read!
-- Lyan on 8/18/2016 5:56:55 AM
Lots of fun, explore every option for the best experience.
-- Jerry on 8/18/2016 1:25:03 AM
dang, when are you going to make a sequel to this? this awesome!!!
-- gurat on 8/17/2016 9:25:20 PM
I spent time choosing every path and enjoyed the best ending. 4 hours of fun.
-- Brac on 8/17/2016 6:30:33 PM
Simply amazing thank you for letting me read this wonderful story for free and I loved all the twists and turns and how even a lick could find some manner of redemption in the end.
-- Apushis on 8/17/2016 6:52:59 AM

Are there any other endings then death winning/epilogue

-- Menace on 7/16/2016 12:13:37 AM
Rather intense really, it was a thrill, would love a game out of it, really this is something that should be expanded upon, I want to see so much more from this world and from the characters in it. The end is bittersweet, as most great endings are. Fantastic all around.
-- Belmont on 7/10/2016 1:20:46 AM
Eternal my kinda story, Necro not so much partly due to its shortness.
-- umrahel on 7/8/2016 8:02:38 AM
I got the "good ending" mass grave bittersweet dimension walking... hell yeah!
-- omgitschowhall on 6/29/2016 11:55:18 PM
I was way more interested by the other planes of existence than the only one explored in this story. For me the end should have been a new beginning. But a good read anyway, thank you.
-- deadvivi on 6/28/2016 10:59:08 AM
My god, this is wonderful
-- marcusentrail on 6/27/2016 11:32:04 AM
Yeee i managed to go a little ahead! I'm dead again, LOL but i think that i could slowly do that, step by step, i'm sure i'm going to make it 'till the end!
-- OkteiviakomSkaikru on 6/24/2016 2:31:51 AM
Guess what? i'm dead, again..well not really death, just an undeath that. BTW i'm going to make it all over again. As i said, i'm a grounder. But not now, maybe in a couple of days XD
-- OkteiviakomSkaikru on 6/24/2016 2:04:16 AM
I think it's good, well i liked it, even if i'm already death AHAHAH i'm not famous to make the best decisions, am i? Well who cares i can try it all over again and i bet i'm not gonna die again. And if i am, well, i'm just going to shake it off and try it again, that's what we do, grounders doesn't surrender! #getknockeddowngetbackup
-- OkteiviakomSkaikru on 6/24/2016 1:58:30 AM
This... Wasn't what i expected- I Appeared to get all the endings- And the True one Almost made me Cry- ALMOST. I Kinda want to see a game based off of this... I Will deffinetly be Playing more of You're CYOA's!
-- TheTruEvil on 6/22/2016 5:30:35 AM
Awesomely made. [Spoilers] My first run ended too early because of that bloody traitor GK and its ring, but then I couldn't help to explore all the storylines options. I really love your vision of the purity of Necromancy an Death, the unavoidable damnation of Hell and the mind-shattering, reality-wraping essence of time magic.
I like the inter-storylines references and also the fact that the initial choice is conditionning which storyline you'll follow (as... what kind of necromancer would choose a friendly demon over a creepy proffessor for its introduction to the dark arts ?).

The twist at the end of Hell's storyline is excellent, but nothing compared to the other one.

The True Necromancer's storyline depicts very well the steps of power increase. And the time loop attempt on you that put you back in the Time Nexus kinda imply that every choice that you could have made from then the first time has somewhat happened. And this theory is canon (!) When you consider the end you get by choosing life over death when your mother asks (by you having be the Great Lich King the first... time).

Bravo and thank you for this narrative experience.

I recently remembered reading this story years ago and decided to find it and read it again. I was surprised at how well it held up to my memory. This story is a masterpiece with stellar character development and meaningful choices set in a fantasy world that is easy to grasp yet has it's intricacies and quirks. I really can't recommend reading this enough.

Wow... I must say that was truly an amazing read. Not something I would normally read, but I'm glad I stumbled across it. Took four hours to read as I basically had to read it twice (I went to hell hehe.) I loved the epilogue though. Leaves me something to ponder. Great story, Endmaster!! I look forward to reading your other stories...

-- Isambard on 12/6/2015 7:36:24 AM
This game is much more complex then my original analysis and has multiple endings, I redid the game because I felt being killed so early was a mistake... It was. This is nice.

Super emotional and a hell of a story. Literally and figuratively.
-- Will Zimmerman on 12/3/2015 2:07:22 PM
simply beautiful. i was so obsessed its all i did for the past three days. my advice is, when you encounter the perfect ending, don't go back and do a different one, it will ruin it. hopefully you made it to the prologue. that was "simply beautiful"....
-- Taylor on 12/3/2015 12:12:35 PM
Great piece. Minor discontinuities and typos but what a nice experience. Looking forward to read more from the author.
-- Victor on 12/2/2015 10:18:25 PM
Woah, this is great!

Love the personification of the characters, especially the main character. He seems like a real bad boy, which is ironic seeing as he is pretty much evil!
-- jibberish on 12/2/2015 5:32:59 AM
Wow, the story is amazing though i made some mistakes and it gone badly. In the end, I am happy with the endings.

I don't even know how i found this novel (i'm not a native english speaker), but what matters is that i readed it.
I don't know if you will ever receive this message but thanks for this little masterpiece, i really enjoyed it but i want to ask you a question, apart from the "dark destiny" and the "Hellbound" one what other ends are reachable in the story?
-- Alessandro on 11/30/2015 4:07:36 PM
Well what should i write... Maybe that i would love a live as the god of death too :D This game was AMAZING! This is probably one of the best stories ever. I hope the author is making a continue of this game <3 so for everyone who actually read this: Play this game and you'll come a real God.

One word: amazing I loved the storyline and Endmaster has yet again proven why he/she (I don't know Endmaster's gender) is the best writer on the site I Hunterthemadman recommend this story.

good story line lol I got the bad ending I think really dissapointing
-- Lightningsparx on 10/17/2015 8:48:27 AM
Some great storytelling, it's been a long time since I have actually regretted making a decision in a story driven game but hell did I start rethinking what and why I did it. Sometimes the seemingly safe route is the most dangerous.

-- Amazing on 10/15/2015 11:44:17 AM
Necromancer was really great and interesting, died my first time but figured it out after. Love the way they word stuff in general and with just the right amount of profanity. Had me on it for hours finding out diffrent endings once i got the one i wanted. Descriptive and to the point while fun enough for only getting 2 choices at a time however they branch off and even sub branch. I'd say the only thing that should be changed is how many choices you have as what i would of done sometimes differed and have to endure the timeskips nmw still enjoyed reading and imagining definitely going to check out others from
-- Roman on 10/15/2015 6:34:28 AM
This "choose your own story" story was one of the greatest video games i have ever played (even better than witcher 3 wild hunt) this should be made into a open world RPG or a book series. It was that good.
-- Blakninja11 on 10/8/2015 8:07:16 PM
Despite the limited number of choices and frequent errors in grammar, I've appreciated the chance to be evil.
-- kinglyoko66 on 10/8/2015 5:17:03 PM
This game was good, but not very long. I would prefer a little extra 'game' and not so much 'story'. But all in all a good story game.
-- cooldude123 on 10/7/2015 2:38:34 PM
I don't know if anyone uses this website any more but if anyone ever reads this I want them to know this is truly worth reading its something that is unforgettable, inspiring and great In every way I love how it completely wraps up the story and feels completely satisfying in every way so that it feels like it can be forgotten but will not be due to its great narrative and story structure.
-- Brandon on 10/7/2015 11:42:46 AM
Well, that was every minute of it.
-- Ludo on 10/6/2015 10:24:15 PM
Not going to write much here, but I spent a while going down different paths. Finally got what I consider the good ending and it was kinda sad to finally finish.

-- God of the Dead on 9/30/2015 11:34:03 PM
It had some typos but it was quite enjoyable. It was a little short but most are anyway. A little bit of it didn't make sense but its alright. Overall its fine.

Yep, that is a wizard portrait from Age of Wonders. (Photoshopped with another image of course)
-- EndMaster on 9/25/2015 1:54:29 AM
Hey, is that a wizard from Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic portrayed in that picture in the description?

Just another thing to add to the list of things I like about this then.

-- SillierWizard on 9/22/2015 4:28:00 PM
This would be so much better if you could take over the city and win, instead of being killed in a cave by vampires or by tentacled creatures while insane on your throne. It would also be much cooler to become the new "Lich Lord" and take over the entire world with an infinite army of the undead.
-- Clericofchaos on 9/21/2015 4:37:58 PM
thank you.
-- felix97 on 9/21/2015 6:42:35 AM

It's kind of a downer to know that i could've done better especially with the whole ghost telling me the future thing I looooove the way it was presented! If you have free time and want to kill it; Do it with this.
-- Asslover on 9/14/2015 5:11:56 PM
I think that I got the true ending... and oh my god. What a fantastic story! However, I do not have time to write much.

10/10 would read again :3
-- RdV01 on 9/14/2015 5:22:00 AM
It's seriously great! This story is unique in the sense that it shows us insight into the dark side, and seriously, there aren't many, if at all, stories showing that being on the dark side can be beneficial as well. The ending also shows us that gaining your true role in life sometimes entails sacrifice, which is a plus because it reflects the reality of life and not just the atypical 'fairytale' ending.
-- Athena Fortuna on 9/12/2015 1:49:49 PM
-- BobbyGW on 9/12/2015 12:28:58 PM
it was probably one of the most interesting and kind of sad if you make it to the epilogue but still it was great
-- kevin De Leon on 9/11/2015 1:56:09 AM
I really liked the story! The only thing I didn't like was that the romance initially seemed forced (although it was pretty short) and there was a bit too much swearing and the characters sometimes seemed too cynical. But overall very impressive. I liked the ending a lot, where he lets himself die
-- Philip on 9/6/2015 2:59:17 PM
Woooow amazing:-)
-- nathan on 9/5/2015 4:24:35 PM
My sister's son was laughing and talking about how cool it was so I had to see for myself. He was right. It was very entertaining even though I died stark raving mad. I will have to try another one of your stories. My sister's son is autistic so anything that has him amused is definitely worth looking into.
-- Lamia Anderson on 9/1/2015 9:37:08 PM

Bittersweet ending.

Finally reached the true ending. Really somber though
-- Khuldoon on 7/26/2015 1:52:23 PM
I personally feel that this is your best work, not because of the pictures, but because of how this is basically the start of every other story that you've written and how many different endings there are, the only problems were the occasional grammar mistake but they are far and few between and only noticeable if read more than once, or by grammar hounds.
-- DeathIncarnate on 7/25/2015 1:24:51 PM
Great read, good fun. Kind of depressing. Everything by this author is. (That I've read so far)
Good read, though.

I really enjoyed this story. The plot was excellent, I found myself going down paths that I knew weren't going to get me to the end just to experience everything. I'm certainly going to look at the rest of this author's work.
-- Rythis on 7/16/2015 9:21:14 PM
The story was really enticing along with seeing the different ways to end everything. Only problems were dabling with time magic and all of the plot holes it leaves in the story and how effortlessly the character delt with everything. Besides those I found it a wonderful read.
-- Pat on 7/13/2015 9:17:20 PM
not bad, the english is a bit rough in places, but overall an engrossing story.
-- Gregorio on 7/11/2015 3:51:52 AM
Excellent work.
Very well written with no loose endings and a truly epic history. Congratulations for your writing and authoring skills!

Also if i could make a request of the author i would love for him to make one for fallout perhaps(the game) or another kind of apocalyps

I love how many of your stories link together somehow. I won't say too much as I don't want to spoil things in this story and the other one where I believe this epilogue ties into. I just think it's so cool.

Enjoyable story, yet too linear for full immersion. To be fair the author mentioned tthis before starting, but it does not diminish the fact that we are all here to participate in an adventure and not just read about one.

At first i prefered the ending where i get tortured in hell, but my new favorite is either where i die to be with Catalina or where i let my sister kill me.
-- QueenofThorns on 3/11/2015 11:57:34 PM
what can i say it was fun lol

-- Dairyfiend on 2/6/2015 5:24:32 PM
This was my first story on this site, and I loved it! I haven't found the 'happy' ending, but I'll get there!

I especially like the world building. It's really impressive.
-- Brandon on 2/3/2015 8:11:56 AM
Fantastic story man, and that epilog? EPIC 5 star my friend. Hope you continue to write. Thank you for this story, hope theres more to come.
-- Valen Murtagh on 1/30/2015 10:37:20 PM
This is only my first play through, and I am most definitely going to try my hand at it again and see what other endings I can find. The story never dragged and was interesting, to say the least. My only real complaint was that it went far too fast for me; I never really got to know any of the characters. Other than that, however, it was well done and worth the time!
-- CowledTraveler on 1/29/2015 3:38:21 PM
how a story of a necromancer should be
-- esperreal on 1/29/2015 2:23:18 AM
awesome storyboard, i oficially finished on the vampire ending with catalina but i did take a look at the other possible endings! just marvelous!, i got a bit sad that i didnt get the epilogue ending that you mentioned as the ''win'' but then i thought: there is no win or lose, just endings that suits our personality the best. i honestly got blown away by this story, its a tue masterpiece. if you can please answer me with another stories that you personally think ill like, it'll be my pleasure to read them!
-- Eduardo Portugal on 1/27/2015 11:18:07 PM

Darn it. i didnt want to go to the infernal dimension D:
-- Anonamous on 1/25/2015 2:31:40 PM
Even though the style of the writing itself sometimes leaves much to be desired, the story is outstanding and comes to a satisfying finish regardless of which ending you end up with.
-- LungDrago on 1/25/2015 9:28:18 AM
Death of a man and birth of a god. The gradual shedding of your
mortality is carefully unwinded and you can only enjoy it. Impressive
story and great photo selection - seeing Sarevok really caught me
off guard - thus, congratulations to the author for yet another shard of
silvery myth.
-- Silverstruck on 1/19/2015 6:39:18 PM

-- TheIllusionist on 1/5/2015 9:50:19 PM
It was fun, but I didn't like this ending which I got. There may be other endings than "fuck it all I quit" but I didnt want burn everything.
-- lauripoika on 1/4/2015 4:09:17 PM
This is more story than it is game, but this will definitely be worth your time. The ending is everything I could have hoped for, and I am tempted to play through it over and over again!

The story is so good. I have gone through both of the timelines and to tell the truth in the vampire ending it basically was so cool and the Lich King ending it was the coolest.

This was extreemly fun to play, after this first playthrough i'm gonna do a couple more, see how it affects the story. I would love to play more of these :D

Also ruling the city was cool, even though it was just a few years. No regrets
-- Atlantis on 12/5/2014 10:29:02 AM
That was amazing and satisfying. I've been waiting the whole story to try and alter the Necromancer's path away from destruction, and at last I was able to reach an ending that is peaceful and rewarding.

Death and Love. Never knew they'd be a perfect couple.

-- Jake on 11/27/2014 1:17:28 PM
This is the best storygame I have ever played. Following a tyrant from beginning to gruesome end is always a joy, and this story did nothing to diminish that. The characters were memorable, the plot was interesting, and both the true ending and its alternate were interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the brief glimpse of this universe.
-- Monumental on 11/25/2014 12:02:52 AM

For someone hunting down anything remotely interesting on necromancy, this is a godsend. I loved this even more than I did The Necromancer's Apprentice, which has just become my SECOND favourite necromancy novel. The only downsides are the lack of details on the gramarye, but a very well-done effort overall and a very engaging read!
-- Jenavee on 11/1/2014 5:15:18 AM

I really liked it. I'm guessing i was wrong to pick trying to take over the city after mr. demar died. The game ended. Not much there. I'll play again with a different path. I really enjoyed the story and rated 8/8.
-- Bryce Sweeting on 10/22/2014 12:41:08 PM
Very good story. Well developed plot. Didn't expect some of the outcomes from the choices, which was pleasantly surprising.

Things to work on would be dialogue, first and foremost. Everyone had the same manner of speech, whether old, young, or dead, human or demon. It was often matter of fact and revealed things in a way that seemed unnatural. The grammar was also imperfect, with many run-on sentences. These two things kept me from getting really into the story. Regardless, it was very enjoyable to read. Keep it up!
-- Kevin on 10/19/2014 2:17:18 AM
The sadness of this story is that you had to stop. At the epilogue I may have had a tear in my eye. The deaths of some of the characters that you had gotten used to was heartbreaking, and it was quite ingenious to incorporate the idea that you are the reason for your parents meeting. Great game 10/ i'm off to spend time with my family.
-- Calvin I'Ons on 10/18/2014 12:08:19 AM
The epilogue really makes you want more, I even went back and tried most other choices. I'm sure I didn't even get close to half of the choices. 10/10

This actually made me cry, when his queen dies because of his deathly aura... Tears were streaming down my cheeks.

On a technical note though:

I only have one dislike, all the swearing and midly childish insults.

I really liked the temporal element, using that made the end story so much more interesting.
I also loved that you had a good range of characters and enemies.
I was impressed by the amount of description and thought that was put into this, especially the end section; I can honestly say that it is incredibly difficult to make me cry, and you accomplished it.

Points i think would improve the story:

I think shorter paragraphs and more options would be nicer, but that would make it more of a game... in its current state its more of an elongated story. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind.

I understand the need to explain a bit of the background, but i didn't really like the way you did it... i would much rather have had a longer storyline that explained everything, perhaps starting during his childhood? Either way, good work!

Also, there is one thing i like about a story and that's an explanation. Where did all of his power come from? I can accept natural talent, but a more in-depth or plot driven reason would have been nicer. As well as that, i would have liked more details about the battles and tactics used, plus a more in-depth description on how he created undead, as well as a variety of undead (although, you did pretty well in this one)

All in all, a fantastic storygame, and the first one i have played from this site! Loved every minute of it, and i hope you put in the time and effort to create more; I'll certainly play through them!

This was an amazing multi-choice game, You really need to make a multi-verse sequel to this, Maybe one where you introduce more indepth use of different magics, And a more interactive combat/magic system and perhaps a more diverse choice of romantic interests, Maybe make it into a sort of epic with more endings, But i think it was a great game regardless and i think you should definitely keep up the good work.

-- caroine96 on 7/14/2014 3:10:46 AM
Okay, so at first I wasn't really expecting this story to be much. But, as I delve deeper into the plots and characters, I was shoked at the pure awesomeness that I had encountered.

This story. Is. Amazing. Definantly my favorite.

It actually took me mose of the night (5PM - 11 PM) to find the Win. I remember going through the whole entire story like the 31st time, upset becuase I couldn't find it. Then a light bulb lit up in my conscience, and I realized the one place where it would be. When I got there, I scrolled all the way down and say "Epilogue"

My hands were shaking and I was actually sweating as I read the last transcript and then moved into the epilogue. I have never really played such an addictive game. This, this story, is beautiful. I rate it 9/8 on the rating scale. It is without a doubt the best story (imo) on this site.

I highly suggest you play it, because trust me, IT IS WORTH THE TIME!!!
-- Fazz on 7/14/2014 12:30:19 AM

-- epic face 09 on 7/10/2014 1:06:29 AM
Incredible story - both paths were well-written and full of decisions that felt like they had the gravitas of changing the fate of the world. The tender moments were heartfelt and the epic moments were incredibly badass. All in all an excellently written story that I'm going to go replay whenever I'm bored.

-- The_closet_skeleton on 7/2/2014 10:46:07 PM
'Necromancer'...the story considered one of the best on this site. Is it really one of the best, or is it overly hyped?

I won't even bother going into grammar because the grammar is fine. If there are any errors, I didn't see any. The dialogue is ok. There weren't many parts that absolutely stood out for me in this story.

The real bread and butter for this storygame is of course...the story.

'Necromancer' follows the story of a nameless protagonist who isn't gifted in any of the schools of magic. Although he comes from a notable background, he just doesn't seem to live up to it. That's when he soon finds out that he has a special affinity to one particular school of magic...necromancy.

The idea of the story itself is very interesting. The lore and feeling to the world itself is portrayed very well in this story. You will very quickly find yourself immersed in the storyline. Each page in this story has a couple of choices per page but don't let that deter you. Every choice will greatly effect the direction this story goes in. Something that even I was surprised by.

As you progress through the story, you will even to begin to feel yourself become a god of death. Your powers being unmatched by even the most capable magic users. However, while leading an undead horde of soldiers is nice, it left a bit to be desired.

The main character is powerful, we get that. It is also hinted that he is capable of leading his undead army onto battle and pull out a decisive victory during his conquests. I was hoping that I could command my soldiers myself during these battles that I only hear happened. This would not only emphasize how powerful and intelligent the main character is, but it could also extend the story a bit with some action.

Nevertheless, the endings for this story are simply amazing. You will not be disappointed with how this story ends, and you will of course want to replay it to see all of the endings. I've gone through this three times myself, and I don't even think I've seen all the endings yet.

My final verdict for 'Necromancer' is a 7/8. It's even better than Reese's Cups®.
-- Danaos on 7/1/2014 9:49:37 PM
o so awesome, brotha
-- HerpyDerper on 6/30/2014 1:30:17 AM
Fantastic!!! I worked my way through two different paths. I like the 'pure' path better but the 'tainted' ending was quite a suprise. Very well written, Many Kudos to Endmaster.
-- Kitsumaru on 6/22/2014 4:55:33 AM
Wow such an Epic storygame. Though a bit linear it still is awesome. Personally I prefer the "false happy endings" rather than the true endings.
-- alabged on 6/21/2014 4:14:00 AM
The best story that I've read so far on this site
-- Steveplays on 6/20/2014 9:55:23 AM
This was good, depressing at times yes, but entertaining. Spelling and grammar errors here and there; along with a few cliches but that's to be expected in the process of writing a large story. It was a bit linear though.
-- Noirbard on 6/20/2014 4:05:05 AM
...Finally got the epilogue, and also the hell one, but that's a spoiler that only the people who've gotten that one will understand, don't worry. Anyways, spent forever trying to get past the first chapter... I think it was the first chapter, anyways, I came so close to giving up this story, and I am so glad I didn't, wonderful plot, universally different endings(literally), one of the best I've ever read/played.
-- Random Player on 6/19/2014 2:52:17 AM
very great i was extremely lucky to play all the way through to the end without having to go back

-- warnight100 on 6/15/2014 11:58:12 PM
Liked the God of Death ending you get. I like the idea that you lived as a mortal, died, rose as an undead, gained more power equal to that of a god. Then top that off with a multiverse theory ending, and it makes for a plausible Sci fi god that I enjoyed the idea of.
-- Bridenfelt on 6/15/2014 6:30:04 AM
Not many know this about me, but I. LOVE. NECROMANCY.
And going through this shit for hours and hours was nothing but pure bliss. Fuck being the good guy. Fuck being the hero. I want to storm cities with the fucking undead. And that is exactly what I got to do.
Thank you. SO MUCH.

Good game
-- Walker on 6/12/2014 6:18:32 PM
A little goofy to start but a truly good game. Becoming a God was interesting as were many of the alternatives. The whole thing kind of gets you thinking about the nature of life and death also what would one do with their immortality. Personally after tearing the entire world down I would probably rebuild the entire thing. Then leave my memoirs and an empty world behind as I wandered the planes.
-- Randy on 6/12/2014 5:52:27 AM
Amazing this is the best game I have ever played text based or not thank you for making it
-- Josh on 6/7/2014 10:59:43 AM

-- Tridentluv on 6/6/2014 9:23:55 PM
This was nice and I'm really trying to unlock the other endings, so far no luck :( Will continue to play it till I unlock the true ending.

depressing but well written
-- kreftaw on 5/31/2014 11:33:20 PM
Whoa :D The beginning was cool and interesting, mid-ways it was a little meh, but the true ending and the epilogue... It was supercool >3<
-- Carotzku on 5/24/2014 1:41:16 PM
I thought it was rather mediocre. Sure the story was ok... but it seemed short and well it left me sort of... disappointed.
-- Madbrad200 on 5/24/2014 9:02:36 AM

Nice story. Wish the story didn't end where it did though. It seemed like the story just started...
-- Trenton on 5/10/2014 10:55:27 PM
Very detailed story. I hate that there are only two paths...and one of them is clearly a bad ending.
-- jamescoker1226 on 5/9/2014 10:19:58 PM
Quite a nice game. I liked it.
-- qatar on 5/8/2014 3:31:46 PM
This is very good! You don't have total control over your character, but it's AWESOME none-the-less. Definitely play it. The end is a bit... Un-expected.
-- Nikkili, let's just say. on 5/8/2014 10:37:31 AM
A bit Linear but a good read!
-- Anonymous on 5/6/2014 9:16:47 AM
Amazing! Mind = Blown! I re-played this for hours, until I finally got the ultimate God-ending.
-- Alex on 5/2/2014 9:12:48 PM
Carpet munching witches, treacherous demons, a dalliance on the dark side of the force. This interactive adventure has everything you could wish for. The style of writing is more Piers Anthony or Roger Zelazny than it is JRR Tolkien. It's fantastic! Let the author of this be proud of what they have done, if I learn that they write books, I will buy them and suggest that my friends do so, as well.
-- Jon on 4/28/2014 11:57:32 PM
I always have enjoyed the darker stories. This suited my interests well and leaves me feeling quite satisfied.
-- Rynnil on 4/28/2014 5:45:26 PM

I really loved the story!! But it was so short :-( i got my hopes up thinking it was gonna be a great adventure.
-- Tru on 4/27/2014 2:52:02 AM
This was really good. An epic story with a little interactivity thrown in. Enjoyed every moment of it.
-- Viscid on 4/26/2014 3:01:48 AM
I always feel depressed after finishing your stories because I never want them to end. Don't stop writing.
-- Xiro on 4/24/2014 10:04:43 AM
I spent six hours trying to get the true ending and I can confidently say that it was worth it. Even after getting the true ending, I had to go back and see all the other ways it could've ended. EndMaster is a master of the English language and of writing, developing, fleshing out, and making me truly care about his characters. I was completely immersed in the story. Thank you for this wonderful experience.
-- Yukabacera on 4/20/2014 11:55:02 PM
I've played this story three times. Once in middle school, once at the end of highschool, and tonight.
I finally got the best ending tonight after 6 years.
I couldn't be happier.
-- John A. on 4/17/2014 11:33:57 PM
So many endings, and so much thought and work put intoeach one. Great job, best story I've read here so far.

-- secret on 4/8/2014 4:37:18 PM
Wonderful story filled with plentiful choices and paths. The "7" rating is for the grammatical errors in the early chapters. Overall fantastic game. It's obvious why this story has remained at the top of the charts! Thanks!
-- mek7 on 4/6/2014 3:40:44 PM
HA. I finished it.
-- notzero on 4/3/2014 10:08:20 PM
Simply incredible. I suggest clicking that "Go Back" option at every single ending. Not going to say anything else, except express my respect to the author.
-- Frizzlecrank on 4/3/2014 4:35:41 PM
Was incredible. I loved the 'true ending' and it was a great time I had figuring out how to get the different endings! Please, give this game a chance! You will not regret it, I assure you!
-- AnsemTheCure on 3/30/2014 11:11:19 PM
First thing's first - Necromancer was great. I had a lot of fun playing/reading through it and I enjoyed the story immensely. I haven't experienced a lot of other "choose your own adventure" types of books, so maybe that's standard, but I did feel like I was being pushed towards THE right ending throughout the story. More branches and more actually viable endings would be sweet. Other than that, Necromancer is top notch!
-- Victor on 3/29/2014 5:55:12 PM
Good game, went through and found a bunch of options earlier. Good options and paths.
-- BurningPen on 3/28/2014 12:18:49 PM

-- naruyashan on 3/20/2014 3:47:34 PM

-- Alex on 3/20/2014 8:07:54 AM
I loved the game, it had a lot of variation! ;)
-- lolpker on 3/18/2014 7:34:12 PM
But if I didn't "make light" of the so called "rape" and murder in the story, how could you have an excuse to continue to rage at the oppressive "rape culture" patriarchy?

Lol. "Shock value" What a sensitive little poppet you are.
-- EndMaster on 3/17/2014 3:46:14 AM
The character's backstory is horrible (gratuitous rape and murder treated like a joke) and the opening paragraph was very disconcerting considering that I am a lesbian. Maybe get some good ideas instead of going for shock value.
-- Alix on 3/16/2014 10:05:31 PM

-- chenliyong on 3/3/2014 9:56:21 PM
This was outstanding on so many levels, made it pretty far, at the end I lived in peace, very nice ending I got. It was very heart-warming.
-- Markis on 3/2/2014 12:01:46 PM
good story, interesting plot and somewhat rewarding ending.
the problem I have with this story is that the dialogue between characters is extremely casual, and it just doesn't work when demon lords and death incarnates are conversing using slang and cussing like its nothing. the other problem i have is that there is no suspense or build up to major events, a character is granted with immense power, but is the reader is only given one line describing it or leading up to it, it just makes the power the character is meant to have seem insignificant. on a lighter note, it was certainly an interesting read.
-- jimbo on 2/28/2014 3:48:10 AM
Very fun. Honestly, it was a tad fast but it still was a great plot. I was dissapointed with my ending, but I still enjoyed this.

If I only can have 1 word to describe this: it's "HOLYS***". Author, I gave my respect to you. This is a classic masterpiece. You are able to completely immerse us into your world. This story is not just the classic good-vs-evil. But this story gives very deep-moral choices that we could even reflect in our life. The ending just BLOWS my mind. Almost like Shadow of the Colossus or Inception ending, just more badass. These sort of endings are the best, it's a sad ending but at the same time it's not.. more like being mindf*cked. In conclusion: Best- Piece of writing I've ever found in all of the internet. Please don't stop making these stories, you are a gifted story writer.
-- Alex on 2/22/2014 6:40:29 PM
Really good story, and nice writing. I tried many endings, and even though I chose only two to be my own, I liked each one of them.
I admit some moments seemed a bit rushed, and choices in between big decisions would have been nice (we conquer, but we never get to rule much, or really shape our empire, or even relationships with other characters).
That aside, great game, immersive story... awesome job. :)
-- Zac on 2/21/2014 3:26:21 AM
Absolutely thrilling story - Managed to burn quite a large amount of time going through this, and was very pleasantly surprised about the ending. Supreme work - My only advice is to spend a little more time with the conventions such as spelling errors, and maybe work on spicing up your language. Couldn't give you a higher rating - Every element of a good story is there. Bravo.
-- Prophet on 2/20/2014 6:29:31 PM
How long does it take to write something like this? And how do you sit through it and do it so effortlessly? My linguistic skills are almost certainly up for the task; it's the creativity and patience that gets me...
-- Jmansporting on 2/18/2014 4:51:04 PM
Pure Epicness!!!
-- RedShadow956 on 2/16/2014 5:41:38 AM
Totally awesome. I happened upon this story by random chance after doing a little background research on a D&D Necromancer character I plan on starting this weekend in a game. The story completely hooked me. Went through it a couple of times to look at as many of the possible paths as I could. Excellent work, thank you for producing this. :)
-- Jason on 2/12/2014 6:29:01 AM

-- Rmpgry on 1/28/2014 5:58:11 AM
I would like to no what our lil necro does after he leaves the planet. Could you write a second book or something? Preferabley involving "eternal" in it, the ending where lil eternal brings death to his world also. Death god was the necro after all.
I always wondered where those creature things came from. Wow, Quale reeley fucked up that spell if he opened a rift to the punishment dimension.
-- walker on 1/23/2014 10:39:18 PM

This is, in my opinion, one of the best text based games in existence. I would love, absolutely LOVE, to see it continued, one way, or another. If you do plan of writing more on the "adventures" of this God of Death, I've provided my email. I may not be much help with the planning and story itself, but I am very good at proofreading

good story. living and dying. its all irrelevant. well, not in Necromancer.

Incredible story. Only to be expected of EndMaster, I guess. A must read.
Trying to think of something that could have been improved, but not sure what to say, really. Maybe the 'real' ending with the epilogue could have been slightly less depressing. I have to say that my favourite ending was the one where you and Catalina live in the vampires' fortress.

I didn't want to turn the world into a grave yard. Even as comforting as he cold of the dead is, it's nice to still have a bit of warmth. I'm pretty satisfied with my ending. Though, I was quiet surprised that I killed myself, but in a peaceful way without any regrets.

-- dman2life on 10/13/2013 6:10:13 AM
This story is unbelievably and unequivocally the BEST choose-your-story I have ever read.

As I reach the epilogue, I feel a sense of sadness as I part with the characters, and happiness, too, as they have finally been liberated. You have developed not just the storyline, but also the characters and the world they live in to such a great detail, it feels like I actually lived in one. The ~6 hours or so I spent in reading this were TOTALLY worth it. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
-- Nick on 10/12/2013 5:16:05 PM
it was a very interesting game.
-- Lucas on 10/11/2013 10:49:20 AM

-- superxar on 10/6/2013 8:53:27 PM
I thought this was an incredibly well thought out story and an even more immersive world. The added lore and history kept me mesmerized for hours. For all reasons, this story should be rated as high as the ratings go, but the only reason I kept my rating at a seven was because I feel like the story would be much more satisfying if it were proofread and all grammatical errors eradicated. A story is meant to transport you to another universe, in a manner of speaking, and unfortunately when something as mundane as a spelling or grammar error comes along, one tends to be forcibly pulled back into our own boring plane of existence. For all other aspects, this tale was absolutely marvelous.
-- Lasair on 10/2/2013 12:54:15 AM
seriously, am I the only one who wants you to make a new one?
-- jake on 9/30/2013 7:36:48 AM

-- _ on 9/25/2013 6:13:40 PM
You really should write a sequel. But on another world, in another universe and dimension; not in the point of view of Death. Instead, perhaps the rallying, nearly unstoppable force of life as it evolves, changes and grows. Or perhaps the omnipotent eye of Time. The Realm works in mysterious ways, you could likely view it from any standpoint, even Source.
-- GiaZera on 9/23/2013 2:59:35 AM
The endings are amazing. The two distinct paths are
Quite cool and the world he creates is
Detailed and wonderful.

-- CLSGatorwrestler on 9/8/2013 1:10:30 AM
The game was really good. The time loop really surprises me.
-- darrylmontales on 9/5/2013 10:56:27 AM
Well it is too good. Though there should be a little bit of censorship, r-18 sometimes. I finished all the endings and quite satisfied. I feel some of the endings are too cheap. I still think there 3 good endings.
-- James on 9/4/2013 9:53:48 AM
well the vampire ending was to short. wish it would be longer. this ending is good ending besides the best ending.
-- darryl on 9/3/2013 4:50:10 AM
Wow...just wow! Great story man and I loved the epilogue and the rest of the story had great build-up and the characters were excellent and all in all was a perfect story.
-- Connor Delint on 9/3/2013 2:48:57 AM
Missing words make it a difficult read.
-- MissyStephy on 8/30/2013 7:11:03 PM
I think is was overall very well written and thought out. Besides little grammatical errors here and there, it was awesome. It was like being a kid again: choose-your-own adventure books were some of my favorites. This was more than a treat- it was both a good story and a trip down nostalgia lane. The only reason why it didn't receive full marks from me was, again, the errors in grammar. Thanks for the read.

-- koschei49 on 8/28/2013 9:54:02 PM
Compelling storyline, filled with humour and some nice twists.

Loved it!
-- LemonCurry on 8/18/2013 7:05:25 PM
It was alright. Wasn't the best, but the ending I got was pretty good.
-- ARADPLAUG on 8/18/2013 7:45:43 AM
I'm really only writing this because I wanted to give it a better rating.
-- hugo23 on 8/17/2013 6:45:19 PM
This was my first cyos since I was a teenager and I really really enjoyed it. I was looking for more bs ugly waste of time games in a google search and randomly thought to keyword choose your adventure and found this. It got me reading and I was so into didn't even feel like I was reading.. it was just so much fun! Thank you!
-- Angelo on 8/16/2013 9:48:29 PM
-- matt on 8/16/2013 3:07:38 AM
awesome story. Tho the right ending isnt my favorite, but that prolly just me.
-- geekgirl on 8/14/2013 9:06:20 PM
spoiler alert, this should have a bunch of sequals with the multi-verse. maybe a prequal for the first lich king. it would be a real twist if he actually went to a diffrent world and you ecountered him. otherwise great story,
-- zman on 8/14/2013 5:45:18 PM
It as fantastic, well written and the story is just amazing.
-- Josh on 8/12/2013 5:40:34 AM
Wow. I played through this multiple times. Took me a while to find the 'true' ending, but I have to say, the search was worth it. It became actually fairly deep towards the end, you deciding whether or not to go along with your plans...

Great game. Bravo, sir, and I must say, ENCORE, ENCORE!
-- Who really cares? on 8/10/2013 2:47:10 AM
Amazing. I do not exaggerate - this story is well worthy of being published.
-- James on 8/8/2013 2:16:48 PM
Ended too soon... running away should not mean death.
-- James on 8/8/2013 1:03:37 PM
This is the type of story I LOVE to read. It has many endings to choose from that you could read this over and over again and not get bored!!
-- princeofdeath on 8/8/2013 1:16:38 AM
Good game - less of a statistic system than, say, Life of a Wizard but a good game. A few minor typos.
-- Sam on 8/4/2013 6:40:30 PM
You are an aspiring student with one forbidden desire to master: necromancy. Will you rise or fall? The game also pits you against demons and an army of Good guys. The text was somewhat absurd at times, such as capitalizing an entire (or several) words, and I did not spelling mistakes, but ultimately, it will not detract from the story.

I liked the ending. Maybe EndMaster will create a sequel where we continue this grand adventure?
-- Scion on 8/4/2013 1:57:34 AM
This was beautiful. Watching me turn from a failed wizard to a fully fledged necromancer was amazing. I absolutely loved the 'true' ending.
-- My breath was taken. on 8/1/2013 7:10:45 AM
Very interesting story. Recommended!
-- Nixon on 7/28/2013 10:50:05 PM
Loved it i felt so much connected to him i felt bad for having cat die..did i think almost all the endings..epilogue,time loop, killed myself (couple of endings) welcome to hell, and some others where died early in game..anybody other endings than these??
-- akash on 7/28/2013 8:04:30 AM
Great job. Really liked the amount of detail that went in to setting up the different scenarios.
-- Austin on 7/28/2013 2:22:44 AM
wow, just wow. This is one of the best. Simply put, not much I can say. Just wow.
-- Aeon_Spiral on 7/26/2013 11:28:56 PM
One of the best things i have ever read/played!
-- Cortland on 7/26/2013 7:27:12 AM
Great, I loved the way it evolves from a magic highschool tale to great epic!
-- vukodlak on 7/24/2013 10:23:53 AM

I first got the ending where I go insane, Cat leaves me and then someone kills me and was all alike "That was nice but isnt there more?" I was (happily) proven wrong. I just loved this story, I really did and I still have ending to discover. The epilogue was awesome and will check out more of your work. You made this in 2007 so I cant even imagine how great your latest work should be if you are still creating stories.

What else can I say? Thank you for this "gift"
-- Drakoblare on 7/23/2013 3:36:03 AM
It was fun, keep up the good work Endmaster.
-- Havoc on 7/22/2013 11:16:38 PM
Nice!!! Writing is smooth!! Cool story too!! Unfortunately my heart was blasted away by Mr. Demar because I killed his students...
-- Darrell on 7/21/2013 2:34:13 PM
This story is both intriguing and very immersive, bringing together a deep and complex story about a man who ultimately becomes death itself. His development as a character is nothing if remarkable for even when he wishes there to be peace there cannot because all living organisms essentially fight death.
-- Abyss on 7/17/2013 1:12:11 AM
Welcome to hell necromance... thats how i finished, i will check out and see if theres another ending :)

really nice story.

-- Death lord on 7/2/2013 2:59:20 PM
Heck yeah guys. I didn't become totally corrupt with power and had a quiet ending with Cat. I feel pretty good. The adventure was fun while it lasted<3 Time to hang up the old mantle of death and go on a new adventure of epic proportions :3

died too quick
-- FreaKISHpRISM on 6/18/2013 3:13:36 AM
I gave this the highest rating, but only because I have gone through nearly every possible permutation of the storyline. I died many, many times, and one time through my character experienced a fate worse than death. I believe the only one I didn't find was the so-called "happy" ending, with the epilogue. It was very enjoyable to see the results of all my different choices, and the last ending I experienced felt like a happy ending, even though it wasn't the "win," It still felt like an excellent end to the story.
-- Morvis on 6/15/2013 8:52:50 PM
Great story, but unfortunately I died too soon by my own creation ;-)

Really well done. I liked the ending I was not expecting that. Good job! For all of the people who are wondering to read this, give it a try. It will keep you entertained for a few hours. And if you don't like it you can exit out of it.

-- Tractor on 4/24/2013 12:08:50 PM
I choose many obviously wrong choices just to see what will happen, and when it started to involve time,i know some mind screw will happen, and that's great.
Keep up the good work.
-- detective1412 on 4/23/2013 5:48:39 AM
Please please write a sequel! I wanna fight the time creatures. :)
-- Kyusse on 4/22/2013 1:06:59 PM
I loved the ending i got. i loved the images and saw the story unfold and become purely epic. to all the young necromancers out there remember one thing. Even in death you must rely on love and family and trust no one else.
-- Rielly987 on 4/21/2013 9:35:54 PM
i dont know... it just didnt do it for me, i followed several different branches of this story and its paths are very linear... there seems to be only 2 set endings you can acheive that arent death, and on of them is a little anticlimax. meh. it wasnt bad though.
-- cybermum117 on 4/21/2013 3:05:06 PM
To start, I want to thank the author. This was a wonderful activity, and you truly are something of a great story teller.

I enjoyed this story so much that I have already sent it out to all of my DnD friends. Though none have finished yet.

I suggest this to anyone who is not turned off by some less than political language; however, I assure you that the language only stands to better the story, give you a better insight to the main character, and make the characters more real.

I also love all the times when...well, I suppose spoilers are never really that fun. Please give this story a try, or a dozen. I'm certain you will be pleased.

And, again, I would like to say thank you to the author. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and appreciate all the time and effort you put forth!
-- Russ on 4/18/2013 12:58:50 AM
Oh wow! That was really good I must have spent 7 hours reading that story. Good job!!
-- Alain on 4/16/2013 7:11:21 PM
Wow. I wish this could be devil oped into an rpg, or a movie, or something. That was Toatally sick! Well done sir, very well done!
I'm even new to the whole "choose your own adventure" scene, that was my first story. LOL. I suppose I will have high expectations for new stories!
-- Alec on 4/15/2013 9:38:54 PM
Very engaging.
-- ihearteugenides on 4/14/2013 5:56:00 PM
i loved this although i would suggest going over again for spelling errors a few times before publishing a new story and i dont know if there was an inevitable end or not but i hated the ending just because i fealt so connected to the character but great story telling
-- ty on 4/14/2013 5:41:03 PM
One of the best
-- Maxmuns on 4/14/2013 3:47:29 PM
This is an amazing story. Endmaster you are truly a story genius
-- LexiTheMidnightWolf on 4/13/2013 5:29:09 PM
Interesting. Very ambitious, but the writing style occasionally grates on me; a bit rough around the edges, and could use more descriptions other than the occasional walls of dialogue. I also generally dislike being 'molded' into a specific persona for a storygame.

To be fair, I've only gotten to one ending (and died!) so I may revise my opinion and my comment after I play some more.

This has got to be the BEST Choose Your Own Path games I have ever played. After about three days of on and off playing, I finally got to the epilogue. I have to say that I look foward to a sequel, even though there propably won't be one. I absolutely love this one.
-The God of Death
-- griffin535 on 4/8/2013 10:12:41 PM
This is a good game.I can think of no improvements that won't massively change the game itself.
-- Jeremy on 4/8/2013 4:31:58 PM
The story was pretty good, however the dialogue was a bit confusing. You didn't do enough separation, making it hard to tell who is saying what. Also, the dialogue felt really out of place. It was almost as if you weren't taking your own story seriously, which I felt was disappointing.
-- BloodyRaven on 4/6/2013 11:06:59 AM
Brilliant, I've read your story about the bard first and it was definitely a delightful pleasure to go back and read about the litch who haunted his story.
-- Artist Lost on 4/5/2013 8:13:49 AM
I will admit at first I didn't think much of this story. It seemed bland to me at first and almost stereotypical with how it started off. I'm glad I kept playing and trying again, for by the time I reached the end I was just so bundled with excitement that I really didn't have any words. I say this because I stumbled across this page while I was researching Necromancers to further a plot of mine. This gave me plenty of ideas, and the way some of these endings wrap up is just so brilliant I think the author deserves a golden star.
-- Issac Miller on 4/4/2013 12:37:52 PM
needs more choices more action
-- bro on 4/1/2013 9:33:23 PM
This was such an amazing story i hope to see more like this. My favorite thing was the detail. Although it needs more choices that don't auto end the game

Fun game only one so far i've felt the need to go back and find better endings. Really fun and interesting concept.
-- oldsm66 on 3/22/2013 10:07:43 PM
Extremly entertaining. Although at times i felt the random cuss word or relaxed fraze was used at times, it was over all a very enjoyable read. I wish to know more of the tale of "The Death God"
-- Drake on 3/22/2013 2:09:17 AM
I got the real ending.
I got the epilogue.

...It was awesome.

After reading this, everything else might just pale in comparison.
-- VendettaCrypt on 3/17/2013 10:42:43 AM
This is my absolute favorite game on CYS. The pages are long enough, the diction is exquisite, and the plot is the most intriguing I have found in any story ever.
Too bad, though. I didn't really want to rule over a world of death. I'd prefer to make the rest of the world into my cringing slaves.
-- vladimir262 on 3/16/2013 12:49:16 PM
wow! i'm really enjoying it for i aim to complete it. but in order to do that i have to work out what's the good way of doing things and the bad way. even if it means starting over from time to time i couldn't care for i like these types of games.
-- john on 3/16/2013 6:02:29 AM
convincing, impressive, immortal.

-- Matco on 3/14/2013 11:40:56 PM
True, its more a story than a game. But its a great story. I love the multiple plot lines. If you get the best ending on your first try, go back and try the other choices. They are equally entertaining.
-- Telwyn on 3/11/2013 12:40:31 PM
I really enjoyed this story. since I moved to nigeria and left everyone behind, I really mis roleplay etc. This can very well be some kind of substitute in a way.

Really great story, interestinf premisse and enticing characters. This was the first game i played on this site and i really enjoyed it.
-- James on 3/3/2013 7:52:47 PM
I really enjoyed this story :-)
It allowed me to make the choices I would have liked to make in such a situation.
And heck, that ending was sort of romantic (the one in the castle with the suicide after watching the world)
-- Domaldel on 3/1/2013 11:54:09 AM
The story... so damn good. Lots of paths to take, to explore and its well written out, excellent. The characters aside from the main guy are fleshed-out and lifelike. Say, what about stories containing 'Combat Command-esque' stories? Wherein you lead fleets, armies, or simply a company or a squad and the things you do affect their survival and victory/defeat. Please do.
-- Bryan on 2/27/2013 6:30:40 AM

I had another go. Even the second time I read the epilog I'm still stunned. The epilog is very touching. The entire story is very touching. Perhaps I feel connected with the dead too :D

-- Chaka on 2/14/2013 4:58:05 AM
Very interesting story. Took me a while to find the epilogue. A brave look into what would happen with total 'evil' victory. The variety of different 'positive' outcomes make the game worth playing.

Epilogue: Dark Destiny

This game is easier than any other games by EndMaster. I like how the pictures with captions are incorporated each page.

This is indeed one of the best stories here in CYS.
-- toni on 2/11/2013 9:10:36 PM
Fantastic story, played it many times, I enjoyed the majority of the endings, especially the proper ending which includes an epilogue - 10/10
-- Connor on 2/10/2013 12:44:19 PM
Just finished my first playthrough and it did not end well for me. I look forwardvtp playing through it again. Great story and lots of direction to take it in. I just wish the author would change some of the main characters dialogue to reflect his growth.

I gave it a 7 and think I've found in it my next weeks entertainment. Good job, Endmaster.
-- eanna on 2/8/2013 9:15:10 PM
Just a question. What time-era is this played during?
-- Tgetruegamer on 2/8/2013 3:45:04 PM
Again.. WOW! Entertaining story (especially for all us evil sadist out there)! However, I feel it could have had more options regarding several aspects in both the introduction to the story aswell as towards the end. I prefer your work "Eternal" but this was almost as good, your Awesome!

I really like the ending I got, I didn't even realize it was there until I played this again. I like how I got to let the world live. :D
-- hugo23 on 1/20/2013 9:37:22 PM
This was my first story game on this site. I played this before I had an account and I played it over and over because I died and then I finally got to an endgame that was perfect for what is really do, but I said what would happen if I did the other options? I went through the game again and again finding different routes to go and found a few different endings and the true ending. I must say I have gotten addicted to this site and it all started with Necromancer.
-- Misaka12 on 1/20/2013 6:35:24 PM
Awesome. Great adventure and story. Great concept and delivery.
-- BuckNasty on 1/15/2013 12:28:15 PM
After finding the imperfect ending, I felt far more satisfied about the true ending. I wish there were more hints explaining where the false ending was leading, but everything else about the story/game was amazing. My favorite game on the site
-- Entreri1 on 1/15/2013 2:46:41 AM
Great story, had me hooked from beginning to end
-- cosmic_dragon2014 on 1/12/2013 8:03:05 AM
as i tend to lurk in the shadows i much enjoyed the evil path. to bad it had to end.
-- shadowlink on 1/12/2013 4:14:51 AM
I really enjoyed this story, but I disagreed with the character several times and so wasn't really attached to the character, as this is obviously more 'story' than 'game'. Nevertheless, I understood why he did what he did, I just plainly disagreed with some of his actions. Great story though, and if this was a book I would gladly buy it. Not so sure about a movie though...would've been a bit gory I guess xD
-- Conzexion on 1/12/2013 4:02:30 AM
i became the most powerful being of death in the world it was awsome
-- gavin on 1/11/2013 1:44:10 AM
This was an incredible story. this is coming from someone who detests reading in general. the characters were amazing, the plot drew me in, and I loved all the smaller endings along with the final one. keep up the awesome work!
-- Dom on 1/9/2013 1:54:22 AM
good story my first CYOA one but i liked it

there are somethings i don't like but cyoa stories seem like an absolute pain to write so
they main problem i have is that it's maybe a bit to linear it didn't feel so much a cyoa (because obv this being my first one i know what a cyoa feels like -_-)
but more a choose something and if you didn't choose the right one tough luck

i would have liked it if instead of it being oh you chose to do this dead end that it continued in a diffirent way and eventually end up back on the main path perhaps
-- damoin on 1/9/2013 1:36:48 AM
Damn this story was pretty good
-- Commenter on 1/7/2013 10:16:26 PM
A fantastic way to make an evening disappear, but placing such an important choice right in the beginning is not something i approve of.
-- Bretth on 1/3/2013 12:55:03 AM
Wow, wow! And I thought dead man walking was the best story here. Sure, I wanted to become a big hero, but not a god of death, just sitting on his thrown in a landscape of nothingness. You've invoked my curiousity. I realize that there won't be a follow-up to this one, seeing it's impossible. I hope that he finally can meet Kat and Sarena. I love this story. I've still not overcome the extremely good ending. This has been your best. Later today, I will take another attempt at eternal, and give them a comparasin. Keep up this stunning work!

This story game is amazing and no words I write could measure up to the rare talent or the author's. This story was beautiful and all the endings were meaningful and well-thought-out.
I am eager to read more from this amazing author.

Brilliantly told story, there were a few grammatical errors, but nothing too disruptive.

My only wish was to have a little more control in some cases.

(Warning, contains spoilers)
I did not expect this story to be as long as it was as I failed a lot in the first two chapters and assumed that I was almost at the end. In the beginning I seemed to only have the choice of doing evil things, and I know that I am role playing as this character that the author has created but I genuinely didn't want to make the evil decisions. In chapter 3 I started to enjoy the book a lot more, I didn't fail at all after this point. I enjoyed the strategic thinking of conquering this world. (Super mega spoilers of death past this point) My favorite part of the book, at least on the path that I chose, was when the Ghoul King (Or GK, which I thought was funny by the way) asks you to wear that ring to help you overcome the vampire kings gaze. I was torn because I liked GK and didn't want to think that he had betrayed me, but I ultimately decided that he had due to the whole teleportation mishap. I praise this author for offering choices that you really have to think about instead of generic one's that can really go any way without any way of knowing why before hand. Overall I enjoyed this story and believe me, I LOVE Reeses cups so this is saying a lot.
-- Justin Swan on 12/4/2012 8:18:46 AM
took me a couple days to finish but was totally worth it. i would recommend this to everyone. great read.
-- Jacob on 12/1/2012 9:22:27 PM
I have always wanted to know if I would be so omnipotent that I would destroy my world and become a god, and to know what to do next. Maybe I'll try to destroy this world eh? And people would blame you for encouraging me haha lol well anyways you have made a wonderful story and you should take it as the highest honor of praise since I myself and my friends who have read your story are writers who are absorbed to making fantasy stories such as yours, I hope you'll make more of these kind of stories to entertain people as I will or did.

I REALLY enjoyed this as my first story! I also liked that I did NOT get the true ending, and still felt fully fulfilled by it. It completely enraptured me and transported me to a fantastical place. The dark overtones were delightful, and I LOVED that my character was evil. Certainly a job well done by the author!
-- allyoreilly on 11/27/2012 8:59:25 PM
Wow. To follow the hero's journey to world domination, absolute power or total devastation has been very interesting, if not absolutely consuming. I am awed by the extent of work, dedication and wit that is clearly present throughout Necromancer. This outstanding piece of work will surely bring hours of entertainment to whoever reads it.
I tip my hat for you, the author, for this is quite possibly the best CYOA I have ever read.
-- Victor on 11/27/2012 6:15:31 PM

-- Cameron on 11/21/2012 10:26:00 PM
This read was a breath of fresh air. I've been bored all thanks giving break. looking up stupid little mini-games to waste time on. I eventually (and oddly)found this, a magical story of a born to be guy. A necromancer. I absolutely loved it! It was so enveloping and action with so much imagery and the ending (atleast the one I got(vampire)) was so complete.
I could imagine every scene and gruesome death. I just loved it, and incourage you to write more.
-- coke on 11/20/2012 10:48:53 PM
It's been awhile since I've read this in full. I have to say, your ability to really craft a plot is probably second to none. There were a few irksome parts (spoilers ahead), I didn't like how preternaturally powerful my mother was. I think it's rather unlikely that some random elf girl promised to some random elf prince would turn out to be a super-being. Sometimes I felt like the plot was artificially moved forward in an all-too convenient fashion, but for the most part, basically every twist and turn felt reasonable. Your characters were amazing and the storyboard was very inspirationally crafted. Also, I loved the way you handled the psychology of the villain, I'm not sure that I've ever seen it handled so well and I feel like you did a lot of research into it. I imagine that the bizarre way that the protagonist thinks is somewhat akin to how a dictator drunk on power but unwilling to relinquish his moral self image must operate. There were numerous typos and such but fuck that shit, honestly, there was no chance that typos to the extent that they were found could possibly distract from a story this good. Thanks for writing it.
-- JJJ-thebanisher on 11/20/2012 4:42:16 PM
I already commented on this story, but I wanted to go into greater detail on how good it is. When I first started reading it I was afking on my favorite mmorpg. I was drawn into the story so deeply that I logged off of the game because it required too much attention and all of my attention was going towards the story. I intend to read more of EndMaster's stories.
-- Cole on 11/18/2012 11:19:27 PM
It took me a while to get to the true ending, but I am glad I took the time. A little advice, stay FAR away from the demons, unless your killing them of course.

This was just badass man. It wasn't totally specific on many things, but that's alright. The imagination that it instilled just made everything all the better. I think i got the best ending, so all in all i very thoroughly enjoyed this.

I think this story is probably the best one that iv read in a long time. I think you should make a second one like this story but a bit different. Make it a bit more all around type but still able to see connections to the first. this story has encouraged me to try to start my own story.

Wow great took me a while to get through great ending, awesome story line, and great ideas. Though i have a few questions. If you were to do this over what would you do differently? and if you could change the side of the necromancer would you? (instead of death it becomes eternal life.)

First story game i have ever read here, it should be in a hall of fame.

I chose the right path every time, and chose wrong ones on purpose just to see what would happen! This is the first thing ever that I have read voluntarily! Or so i believe. This book has such an interesting plot. You get sucked right into it. Multiple good endings, and one true ending. Such a great story game! 8/8

Thank you. This was my first story to ever play here on choose your own. I was amazed at how well writen the story was I played through both parts both Big Red(my first time through) then the other it took me all night to read trough it but I do belive I have read most of the posible endings and as much as the "true end" seemed to stick to the flow best I much perfered the one where I and my queen of the dead simply leave and watch time pass by from the vampires lair. I want to thank you again for putting in all the time and effort to write this wonderful story. Ps. If you have the time id like to ask you to explain to me what hapened to the first time magic user you encounter I didn't fully understand. That bit

Forgot to rate and comment... this story is spectacular. I eventually got the best ending, but originally, I got -- spoilers -- the one where you mesh the powers of necromancy with demonic abilities. It was epic until the plot twist. Damn good twist. Sooo disappointing, but it was fun while it lasted.
-- Kiel_Farren on 9/15/2012 2:59:32 AM
As expected from EndMaster's series of great stories, Necromancer has become one of my most favorite stories not on just this site, but across others and even compared to books. The plot itself was like life rewritten again and again. Each end, however sad or joyful it is, was the start of another story. How EndMaster learned the skill of toying with my emotions and thoughts, I probably will never know. What I do know, is that EndMaster doesn't make one simply happy, it gives the reader the wide range of emotions that makes you tear up when you close the window. Thank you.
-- Swiftstryker on 9/15/2012 12:43:17 AM

Amazing games, took me about two times to get the true ending, which is amazing by the way. First i was sucked into the infernal plane to die forever. Then i go into a portal to continue to kill everything. Great game, a squeal would be difficult but it would be nice to see something like that.
-- Lawilet on 8/1/2012 5:58:04 AM

-- Fuzzousity on 7/17/2012 8:52:20 PM
Great story, great game, the foul language was interwiven through it yet not an expletive every other word, metaphorically speaking. I really liked the ending of living away from the world with Cat. Romantic in a world of dead things. Nice touch.
-- Sierra LS on 7/10/2012 12:25:20 AM
This story is REALLY good. I like the huge scope, and the way it tackled some pretty hard ideas about life, death, and love. You couldn't have chosen a better time to end it. The biggest question mark, for me, was what Serena actually is, but I'll keep my opinion secret; others should come to their own conclusion, without any influences.

-- zeke on 7/7/2012 3:16:18 PM
WOW. iv been playing on this for 4 hours and im pretty sure iv got all the was amazing, my favorite ending was the one where you and cat live away from the world and die together....he reaches happiness and love and watches the world, i think this is where you win. Instead of killing the world and becoming God Of Death, he has to go through such misery and boredom and cant be re-united with cat...although i loved the way it does all try up in the end with your lost love.
amazing:) the writing was so vivid, emotional and the character development was super, you could see him becoming a monster or a dark hero. and, although it became complicated at times with all the different names, it was relatively easy to follow.
all in all one of my favorite games. congrats:)

Outstanding! The plot was deep, and the "true" ending is everything I could have wanted. Were it truly me in the story, that is where I would have ended up. I have to say, this is remarkable. Very entertaining. I don't think I'll be able to read another one of these for a while for fear of it sucking. Someone ought to make a video game rpg out of this story. Well done!
-- God Of Death on 6/11/2012 10:46:20 AM
Is it me, or trying Big Red's path is not leading to a happy end?
I would have made it different, with three different paths and storylines, one with becoming a necromancer, then the Great Lich lord, the second with becoming a demonologist, then a Demonlord, and the third is the time magic thingy ( forgot it's name).
Btw, too many words like "fuck".Because I like the story so much and it contains this word, I started to use it in my stories.
-- Marmotlord on 6/11/2012 8:20:00 AM
Ok i have to say im a big fan of your storys and i have to say this is your best so far i got the ending when you Call off the attack i hope you make more like this i gave it a 8/8

Finnaly finished it. If you need a walkthrough, ask me.
Amazing story, (altough small spelling and phrasing mistakes).
The only part I didn't liked was that my entire fammily was dead and I didn't actually do anything with Catalina.
-- Marmotlord on 6/7/2012 1:13:20 PM
Can't seem to find the good ending, but i just love it.
And I really want more of Catalina's ass
-- Marmotlord on 6/7/2012 11:48:03 AM
Niiiiice.... I've always wanted to be a bad necromancer.
-- Marmotlord on 6/6/2012 10:41:07 AM
This is easily the best choose your own adventure i've ever played. Fantastic in every way, i've even cried at times during this game.
-- Riless on 6/5/2012 4:58:33 AM
This is the best story I have seen yet. Amazing.
-- cm on 6/4/2012 2:30:23 PM
This is my favorite game, and it inspired me to write my own game! Fozen Bones may be found upon my profile page, or in the Fantasy Adventure part of CYOS.
-- Storvolleng on 6/4/2012 10:41:53 AM
A GREAT game! Well written and with enough choice to make it interesting. I will definitely be replaying it.
-- Warrio1209 on 6/1/2012 3:19:03 AM

good game
-- stella on 5/2/2012 5:13:50 PM
Pretty sweet, I wonder if I got the true ending?
-- 52pickup on 5/2/2012 10:31:11 AM
I must say this was an awesome story and would probably make an kick ass anime series if it ever got turned into one. The story was well written well thought out, the only thing i had a problem with was reaching the ending which took forever but it was worth it. Shot for an helping me spend an hour
-- Vil on 4/30/2012 9:42:09 PM
Really interesting. Vivid storyline. Well done.
-- 15aewar on 4/28/2012 3:21:46 AM
I have to say that was a pretty epic read, both in the quality and the size sense. Had to backtrack a couple of times but it was kind of fresh seeing the "bad guy" win for once.
-- WittyName001 on 4/26/2012 6:19:21 PM
epic. at first i thought i found the true ending (where you will yourself to die) but then i found the real one. a masterpiece.
-- FindKeep on 4/25/2012 11:52:00 PM
Are you fucking kidding me. You torturous piece of shit. I'm sure you will only get pleasure from reading this. I spent so many god damn hours... just for the hell ending... what the fuck. If I was REALLY damned from the start, just because I chose big red, then fuck you even more because thats just fucked up.

I should've just stopped when I saw how RIDICULOUSLY long the story was getting (why is it a 7, not an 8? are there really, really choose your own stories longer than this). But, no, I'll give this guy the benefit of the doubt... shit. I'm so damn angry I'm gonna go kill a kitten, raise it, re-kill it, and scream at the remains until I pass out.
-- fuck you on 4/19/2012 4:36:35 AM
I have to say, this was impressive. It took me about 6 hours to get the best ending, and I was enraptured with the story the entire time. It scales well, and leaves you satisfied. I legitimately feel like a God of Death now.

Tip to you all- The logical, obvious answers are always best.
-- KanameD on 4/19/2012 1:30:23 AM
Fun but took a few tries to get epilogue
-- Xt1000305 on 4/13/2012 10:54:37 PM
really enjoyed it as my first read on this web site if this is the sort of work to expect here then I'v found another fav page.
-- ErazamusFoxx on 4/13/2012 2:24:21 PM
Got the epilogue. Really great, written beautifully, and I really liked the ending. Master of Death MWAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
-- written_agreement on 4/12/2012 10:37:56 PM
Very nice, took me a while to get the best ending... But more than worth it. I wish that it could continue though, it was amazing in every definition.
-- Mack on 3/31/2012 11:56:38 PM
Okay, so what's the true ending? I mean, the one with the epilogue seems the correct choice, especially due to what I assume 'Death Song's true ending was, but what about the first Great Lich Lord? Admittedly, you could sweep it under the rug with quantum theory or the Temporal anomalies or -ALIENS- and say both happened at once, or that the Necromancer just took his place in history instead (which is total fridge horror, for both the Lich Lord and the Necromancer)
Granted, looking way too hard at it, but re-re-reading it it's just something that stuck with me.
However, I digress, awesome story. 8/8, love you long time, etc.
-- Standardtoaster on 3/27/2012 5:47:06 PM
Woot! All my 8 are belong to you!
-- Philthespill on 3/21/2012 7:40:16 PM
It had a good flow and was very well writen.
-- serene88 on 3/19/2012 12:05:33 PM
Amazing game, deep story that is great to play in. Even though you don't decide your every single decision you still feel like the whole story comes down to your choosing. 10/10
-- Adrian on 3/19/2012 12:01:04 AM
I remember having a similar thought, except my hope was, and still somewhat is, to have it either become a book or a video game. This was the closest I have seen to that same plan that I have still. I only wish that there was more to it...Oh well, thats a project for another day. Thank you and good...morning.
-- Mr. Maradok on 3/17/2012 5:45:47 AM
Awesome story long buy noice
-- steve on 3/16/2012 2:21:29 PM

-- steve on 3/14/2012 5:52:20 PM
I LOVED this strory. Kudos to the author. I had to go through it twice, my first run I made it 50 yrs, but to no epilogue. Second time i got it. I look forward to more of these.
-- Mikey D on 3/12/2012 3:58:51 PM
The game seemed very straightforward with very little options for the player. Most of the options had only one right answer, witch should be changed. I personally prefer CoG
-- Cagey bee on 3/2/2012 11:28:15 PM

-- DoctorGonzo on 2/24/2012 8:03:53 PM
It was really good! But there was a LOT of swearing. But other than that, it was good.
-- Annonimus on 2/21/2012 5:17:03 AM
Well this was the first of your stories that I've read. Sorry for the long comment that's going to follow. I'm really bored.

I like your writing style - how it is more story than game. The choices are only there to break up any monotony that may be seeping in.

Anyway, although I do like this story, I feel that some of the character development is flawed.

I know swearing is part of the language and character of some people, but I feel that there are places where it is not needed and actually breaks my belief in the story's world for a little.

Spoilers alert, btw.

This is same for the character's motivations. e.g. I felt a bit unsatisfied with Catalina. I felt as if some of the hinting and flirting was was kind of cheesy.

Otherwise it's a great story! I felt you improved dramatically with Ground Zero anyway.
-- katoji on 2/17/2012 6:44:03 PM
I REALLY, enjoyed the story, I was hooked after the first chapter!

-- CovElite on 2/3/2012 12:23:47 AM
I would make a great necromancer. I always knew this. It was a great story and a great ending
-- ZenUndead on 2/2/2012 2:56:21 PM
Im a happy ending sorta person but this was still a amazing story.
-- CovElite on 2/2/2012 12:12:20 AM
Wow. Not as good as the sequel, but amazing nonetheless. ^^
-- Meriko on 2/1/2012 2:26:37 AM
Very good, but I would have liked the Hell Path and the Necro Path to be more intertwined and not based of the second decision you make in the entire plot.

Very well written though, barring a few mistakes.
-- Pladio on 1/29/2012 8:22:54 PM
This was amazing I think i spent the whole day trying to get all endings and such and the ending with the epilouge left me wanting more I wish this didnt have to end it was great

Awesome game, I wish I could play on, and see what happens next, but that (unless there's a sequel) is a story never to be told.

-- Dakkon on 11/5/2011 5:04:29 AM
@Vinny- There is one major alternate path in the story. Try talking to "Big Red" next time.
(Warning=spolier) You do not win on this path but it is quite intresting.

@Jack-Catalina choose to die because she did not want to live in eternal undeath.
You(Necromancer) never died unless you choose a wrong path. He enter's the Warp and travel's the Multiverse at the end.
-- Fireplay on 11/3/2011 11:52:39 AM

-- SEULaw on 9/2/2011 6:30:20 AM
Very well written. And the subject matter was really appealing to me (Necromancy! How many times does it get to be on the protagonist's side?) Here's hoping for more like it! Cheers!
-- David Covenant on 8/28/2011 2:10:07 PM
A great story! I like the unconventional theme and perspective that the author chose. The gray morality from a villain protagonist's perspective was certainly a refreshing take.
-- gregoriusbp on 8/24/2011 8:59:48 AM
Sorry for the double comment, but I feel I should have maked an account before posting the first one... Oh well, nothing I can do now I guess.
-- Brolom on 8/21/2011 1:42:37 AM
I am out of words. I can only say that this is the story and 'game' (if you can call it like that) that I have always dream of. The Necromancy theme was really well done (I love it in fantasy stories! ^_^) and the world was incredible. Its good to see more stories where the main protagonist isn't exactly the 'good guy' but the contrary. It maked me really FEEL how the things happened, not just looking at some pages. This, as a normal storie, would already been incredible, but the choices makes it even better. I really recommend you in making more stories, you got an amazing talent!
Sorry for my bad grammar.

-- Brolom on 8/21/2011 1:29:08 AM

splendid! truly splendid! each path is different from the others. i have to play many times to get the Epilogue. I have to say that it would be interesting if the option of "me" to be a God is open, though. Real God, with divine rivalry as the fifth chapter :D
-- esvath on 5/29/2011 9:15:27 PM

-- DVolk on 5/18/2011 3:03:03 PM
Great story. The plot makes me feel very emotional. But isn't there an opposite of the main character? IMO balance should be maintained, not in this amazing story though. :)

-- Forge on 4/29/2011 5:42:15 PM
That was a fun game. I liked how difficult it was to find the epilogue ending.
-- cool74 on 4/29/2011 12:15:21 AM
Lol, the necromancer eventualy becomes a planeswalker. Any MTG players know what I'm talking about. All kidding aside, this is my favorite game on the site and I REALLY hope that you decide to follow it up with another one.
-- ThisisBo on 4/27/2011 6:11:48 PM
I found the path I followed to be quite sucessful and substantial to where I thought it should go. I must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, though. I feel I could have been more powerful and not given up my necromatic powers just to be painless... Like my dead girlfriend said: I could be the next Linch King. Too bad I wasn't.
I will, however have to try again. That path must be in there somewhere. I feel I didn't start to falter until the end.
-- aranamar on 4/22/2011 10:33:42 PM
Personally i think this is the best game on this site. All of the endings are original and the world that sorrounds this game.

If this was to be made as a novel, movie or game I'd defintily buy it.

Deserves allot more praise
-- Jimmy Wang on 4/22/2011 5:42:44 PM
I severely enjoyed this. I kind of wish it was a bit longer, but, on the other hand, it's also comfortable where it was ended. Great job.
-- jkulibert2 on 4/22/2011 1:26:11 PM
Hi I really enjoyed the game. I played it enough times to get all possible endings. I really enjoyed the multiple dimensions one. Just wondering will you be making one to follow up on one of the many endings? If you do or if one is already out could you tell me. Thanks again for an interesting story.
-- Cole on 4/22/2011 12:03:49 PM
Thanks to everyone for the comments.

Just to address one thing. The main character is meant to be a villain protagonist, so there really isn't a "good guy" option as such. There are however a few endings that allow a more positive ending for the world as well as your character if you're into that sort of thing.

There is one ending where you don't destroy the world and still live out a good life with your mistress. Then there are a couple of other endings that could be considered "good" which are more like "self-sacrifice" endings, but those could be included as well.

There are also two vampire endings which allow you to stop the destruction of the world while still maintaining your "unlife".

And that's the best you can do as far as good guy endings are concerned!
-- EndMaster on 4/20/2011 4:16:43 PM
The story was surprisingly engaging and was a thrill to read. The main downside (and only a minor one) was the lack of flexibility I felt in my choices. Many of the "choices" felt like they would ultimately take me down the same path of eventual world dominance of some kind. I can't say whether that's true one way or another, but it never felt like there was any alternative to a path of darkness. However, it still worked really well storywise and I'll definitely be playing it again sometime.
-- ArmoredHorse on 4/20/2011 3:01:57 PM
that was really good. you sir/miss know how to make a story. I hope you keep kicking ass and taking names.
-- Carlos on 4/20/2011 6:29:34 AM
AWESOME GAME. I loved the twists and turns. one question,though-Is that really an end, to become the Death God? I think you should make one with a Good-Guy ending, Like the Master of Natural death and defender of Man.
-- Alavander on 4/18/2011 8:30:28 PM
This was excellent. No spoilers here, but many of the endings managed to carry an emotional impact. A beautiful plot with interesting conflicts await here.

-- Goddess on 3/4/2011 8:28:03 PM
I'm coming to go over it again, and it was pieced overall nicely and done collabrately. "Even Death may die" was interesting and serene, there was where it would mean a little maddness and how the guy seeks death and nearly takes on what it is to experience death. The best thing I liked, though was where he basically retired, but for him to try to find where was going to do in his path, he choose it as his own and gone to a different state.
-- Art on 2/21/2011 7:56:39 PM
A epic journey to find one's place in life, but in this depressive struggle one learns life in death. And in death peace, love, and one's place was granted.
-- Austin on 2/16/2011 8:11:24 PM
This story is legendary. It has to be the best story I've read yet. So many endings and possibilties, and in the end, I continued on to become the God of Death! Don't know if I'll find anything to top this.
-- Xanatos on 1/11/2011 1:01:42 PM
I did make a "good" ending. Try again and don't make deals with demons this time.
-- EndMaster on 12/24/2010 11:20:19 AM
I really think you should have added some good endings! I HATED it when I found out I was just a slave of hell! I almost cried!Seriously though, make a good ending!
-- Jen on 12/23/2010 10:36:40 PM
I've been playing this for two days (not straight) and this is the most amazing game of its kind that i've ever played
-- rlawless on 12/14/2010 2:25:53 PM
Oh my god, love the storyline. I also love the epilogue.
-- Phyre24 on 12/13/2010 10:47:38 PM
Very very fun game, don't know if there's anything past Godhood, hope so!
-- Phyre on 12/12/2010 11:49:06 PM
Well that was... Intriguing to say the least I do wish that you could make up with your sister on the "good" path but owell still I loved it great job. Now you go and have your self a nice life now. cheers!
-- William on 12/8/2010 1:21:43 AM
If I could i would rate this 10/8.

This story had such diffrent thing you could do that I was hoping that this book would never end. I personally thing that you should make this story slightly longer in some parts so you can turn it into a Book (which i would buy).
Now, If you do not make a sequal to this book then I will be very disapointed in you. Reading and Learning about Necromancers has always been a hobby for me.
I think you had one of the best endings since you could choose to become a God Of Death or let the World breathe again.
No matter what game or strange book i read or play i always pick the necromancer since i am so facinated by them.

Are you some sort of mind reader, or a reflection of my mind and soul looking back at me? I LLLOOOVVVVEE this story as i feel like it is a guide to all followers of Darkness and its Arts, like an Evil Bible. this is now and always shall be my Favorite and one true, SHOULD BE THE STORY OF MY LIFE!
-- NivleKdaDarkLord on 11/22/2010 12:13:39 AM
Heh... a pretty detailed story. Definately one of the best on the site.
-- RyuuKitsune9 on 11/16/2010 12:30:53 AM

-- awy on 10/14/2010 3:38:56 PM
Oh sweet deal I actually got the epilogue this time! A++ Great read, great art!
-- BrainFriiz on 10/2/2010 10:27:57 PM
Fun. I would like to see a continuation sometime in the future where you can continue to become, say, a lich.
-- BrainFriiz on 10/2/2010 7:11:54 PM
man its great!!! really really really great, now what we need is anothers choose your story types like this one could you do more??? AND IF you could then make something like the story of a knight that can be good(paladin) neutral(mercenary) and evil(death knoght, black knight, etc)
-- rogejun on 9/26/2010 10:53:33 PM
This was by far, one of the most entertaining tales I've ever read. Thanks for contributing it to us.
-- Ahriman on 9/25/2010 12:04:24 PM
Ive played all the endings and this is amazing. You need to make some more games.
-- Cpt awesome on 9/24/2010 5:45:10 PM
Wow, that was awesome.
-- Zach on 9/5/2010 1:26:50 AM
Great game. It was very original and interesting.
-- xDante on 8/28/2010 8:40:35 PM
Great. Perfect ending in the epilogue.
-- Nick on 8/22/2010 12:52:21 PM
This was truly amazing. I can clearly see why this has a rating of 8. Bravo endmaster.

Oh.... just awesome. Awesome.
-- maheusz on 5/14/2010 2:17:33 PM
The few typos and grammatical errors are a tiny, almost insignificant gripe when it comes to this story. I got the "Godhood?" ending which took me by surprise and was a nice blindsided twist I thought. A very smart, well written story all around.
-- H-A-V-O-K on 4/20/2010 3:12:06 PM
Awesome. Absolutely awesome.
-- Minarchist on 3/18/2010 11:50:06 AM
Great Game!
-- koolgai on 2/20/2010 3:37:13 PM
Amazing game. It kept me interested while at the same time being harder than most others. My thoughts on this game is that it could use some work on the spelling and grammar errors, but other than that it is a well written, near perfect game.
-- akjhurg on 1/3/2010 4:18:35 AM
I got the epilogue, so I guess that means I won this time. Drags on forever, but it's so well-written that I didn't really want it to end.
-- Rozeline on 12/24/2009 2:03:43 PM
Probably the third time I've read this story (though clearly my first time rating), and really, I just like it more each time I read it and see how many different paths (and endings!) really are available.
Excellent work. Keep it up!
-- Trzcina on 12/23/2009 11:39:18 AM
So I don't get to be a god? -pout-
-goes back to play again-
-- Rozeline on 12/16/2009 5:50:51 PM
Amazing, this story just kept me going until the end, if it ever became a book it could probably do good.
-- Zetsumei45 on 12/6/2009 6:30:21 AM
Wohoo, another freaking epic story from Endmaster, grand grand. Now for my second try.. =D
-- Alkador on 11/19/2009 5:17:26 AM
Wow. Simply Wow.
truly well-written and fantastic.
-- crition on 9/21/2009 9:57:17 PM
Alas for the temptress...indeed the mighty have fallen. My "girlfriend's" advice about allies was, apparently, not specific to this. If at first you don't succeed...
-- aJacks on 9/20/2009 3:55:47 AM
This is the best thing I had ever seen, it's kinda hard sometimes but I got to the epilogue. If you read the sad parts, you are really gonna cry like a baby, this is a story with emotions dude! (No I don't smoke stuff)
-- This is.... awesome on 3/10/2009 2:11:17 PM
AMAZING. Loved the pictures.

-- georgeman on 8/31/2008 2:07:55 PM
That was a very good story :D I liked all the different choices you could take and all the different outcomes that happened(mine was becoming a God of Death and traveling to other dimensions :/ )
-- kharid on 6/3/2008 6:54:47 PM
Amazing, You are a true inspiration, Ever thought of putting it into book form? Maybe a continuation of his adventures, I love it alot. Ty
-- Jimson on 6/3/2008 6:38:24 PM
Very interesting story really well written. Though it was more story than game. The story aspect more than made up for this. It is truly a great story that I enjoyed every moment of reading.
-- Zarok on 5/4/2008 12:08:52 PM
great game
-- azailn on 4/10/2008 1:37:35 PM
Gotten requests for a sequel to this story several times in the past. However, it's virtually impossible to make one given the ultimate outcome. This is a story that would probably be ruined by a sequel (or prequel). I'd rather leave it be for the most part.

However, I did make an "equal" which takes place during the same events as this story, but it has a very different protagonist.
-- EndMaster on 1/17/2008 4:11:18 PM
i played this before i logged in so i menat to die. this game is so amazing. i had so much free time i played both storylines please make a sequil

One of the best stories I've read! Great pictures, by the way.
-- GodsSlayer on 11/17/2007 7:23:20 AM
This was a great game. A sequel would be nice. The best game I've played thus far.
-- HoopFan101 on 11/12/2007 3:34:30 PM
You've outdone yourself. My feelings on this story are too many to put into words, but not one of them is negative. Truly amazing, truly.
-- October on 11/10/2007 4:08:24 AM
PLEASE make a sequal
-- the dude on 11/7/2007 1:31:38 AM
Friggin' awesome! 8/8!
-- DeathGod on 10/25/2007 7:19:23 PM
I like to have more choice.
-- weedy on 10/14/2007 7:32:17 PM
-- bob on 10/10/2007 4:31:31 PM
One of the things you do so well in your stories is make clearly distinguishable, and rich characters. It's almost as though you don't have a single flat character, all are well-rounded and seem fully developed from the moment they are introduced. This story is no exception.
-- donteatpoop on 10/9/2007 8:59:17 PM
i do like the pictures in this story better. good writing too. you bring quality to our site, something missing for a long time. thanks.
-- Fleshnblood_78 on 10/8/2007 11:59:20 PM
Yet another amazing story. And who doesn't like Necromancy and big Fantasy monsters and such?
-- Anubis on 10/8/2007 2:51:39 PM
I'm a bit dissapointed with this one, after reading Ground Zero. I guess Ground Zero was just ground breaking or something. I would have released them in opposite order, this is maybe 1/2 the game Ground Zero is in my opinion.
-- JJJ-thebanisher on 10/8/2007 2:49:02 AM
Another awesome game end. Great job.
